USA CONV priorities

Post by TeaLeaf »

According to the rules, the USA can use its own CONVs to ship its resources to China (so it should).

USA indeed uses US CONVs to ship from Philippines to South China Sea, but then in Bay of Bengal switches to a CW CONV. CW cannot use US CONVs at this point in the game, ofc, so falls short 1 CONV.
I had to sail in another CW CONV into Bay of Bengal to correct all sorts of problems (starting with Palembang oil being transported via route
Australia->South Africa->Horn of Africa->Bombay).

In the savegame that additional CW CONV is already in place, so things over there look normal again.

I can't recreate this bug, due to the extra convoy which is added to the Bay of Bengal.

However, by forcing the sea route of the two NEI oil resources, one should be able to force the US to use it's own convoy for transportation of the Phillipines resource to China...

Thing is: the program first uses the convoys of active countries, than of non-active countries on the same side. So in case of your gamesave, there is no bug...

That extra CW CONV in the Bay of Bengal can be moved back from where it came (Right click -> 'undo' button).
From there I don't know what situation exactly will emerge but 1 of the 3 resources ordered through that sea should cause some sort of problem again.

Right, I checked what would happen and it doesn't work.
By undoing the move of the extra CW CONV, (in my case) one of the resources from Palembang becomes 'Idle'. NOTE: both oil from the DEI are defaulted (forced) through Bay of Bengal.

Overriding both oil with the same settings as the defaults (i.e. forcing them with even greater force), results in one of the oils being transported via Australia -> South Africa -> Horn of Africa -> Bombay...
Then the program stubbornly refuses to let the US resource into a US CONV. This is one example of the program refusing to accept human changes of a convoy pipeline. If I change the route, MWiF Changes it back! It simply refuses to let the Philippines resource out of the CW CONV.

Wouldn't it be better if the USA uses its own CONVs when allowed and possible?
For example, NO if transporting resources/BP to the western allies but YES if transporting anything to China. And YES to all countries after option 32 is picked.

Well, we've got a bug here allright...

I agree totally it would be better if MWIF would first look at the convoys of the US whenever it has a trade agreement with China or option 32 is chosen.
