Weather and terrain fields not showing
Weather and terrain fields not showing
The weather and terrain details below the hex grid reference on the left bottom of the screen are not showing; as the grid reference is at the very edge of the screen I presume this is a screen resolution issue. My laptop is 1920 x 1080 but in global conflict I have to have it on resolution setting of 1600 x 900 to get the full SC screen in, so I wonder if this needs to happen here. However I can't find anyway to alter the game's screen resolution as unlike the earlier version a resolution menu is not appearing.
Note I added this comment to another post raised by another player on the main forum page but thought it better to add it here given its a technical issue.
If its more complicated to address than seems likely is there any way to reference the weather information other than working it out from the effects on the main map?

Could you upload a picture of your current screen (with the missing info)?
Just asking because of curiousity.

Here is a partial screenshot from the game on my system, note the only information on the bottom left are the hex grid references:

Here in contrast is a partial from Paradogs Gamers series which shows much fuller information in the bottom left. I know his is a beta but I understand the game version has equivalent information if maybe slightly rearranged.

RE: Weather and terrain fields not showing
I suspect that your notebook has a different resolution, but not 1980x1020 (which I run on my 24" monitor). My screenshot shows much more of the map than yours.

I wish I could help, but I'm a layman myself.
Just for curiosity reasons:
what values does you sc3.ini file show?
This is how it looks on my end:

Well done you are more into this than me. So there is a difference.
#ORIGINAL_SCREEN_WIDTH= 1536
#ORIGINAL_SCREEN_HEIGHT= 864
#WINDOW_WIDTH= 1536
#WINDOW_HEIGHT= 864
#BIT_DEPTH= 32
#FULL_SCREEN= 1
Maybe that's why in Global Conflict, I have had to use the 1600 x 900 resolution within the game to get the screen fully in view. Takes me back to square one - how do I change the new game's screen to that size without doing so in my laptop display - which is not something I ever want to do manually for any game plus it gives a less clear view (not being the laptop's recommended setting.

Yes, I guess you're right.

Did you try changing the ini file values?

I don't want to mess things up without expert guidance. I have just looked however - there is a warning message not to change them manually as this needs to be dome within the editor. So I click on the editor and get a resolution menu - my quick hurrah is halted when I realised that the highest value in that menu is the 1536/864 one already listed above! At that point discretion overcame valour and I went no further.

Don't worry, I'm a brash man :p I change the values in SC3.ini and, d
sadly, nothing happens. Waiting for cavalry...
RE: Weather and terrain fields not showing
Could u check the resolution shown at the following screen?
Go to the display settings and then "Display Adapter properties" and "List all modes".

Solved !!!!!!! Ironclad, you must change the global size of your elements in screen to 100 per cent, we both have the scale to 125 per cent, I'm using windows 10 and the bar to change scale is in configuration menu....sadly I can't still post screenshots here, I try to send you by PM

It it by chance the procedure which is described behind this link?

RE: Weather and terrain fields not showing
Thanks and very well done. I found it. It certainly does the trick on the game and the counters (which I had previously switched to because they are clearer, especially the numbers, than my usually preferred sprites) hold up well despite the smaller size. The downsize is that the reduction in size affects all the other programs as well and these days my eyes need larger rather than smaller items to see. If the developers can't come up with a game specific alternative I'll probably end up reverting to the 125% size and living with having to work out the weather from the map features.
Thanks again to you both for all your efforts. Much appreciated. If you are into multiplayer, I hope we can fight sometime.

RE: Weather and terrain fields not showing
Good to hear it's solved.

RE: Weather and terrain fields not showing
I have had to revert back already as the small size is just too much for me so I'm still hoping for a game unique solution. Its crazy really - all we need is just the extra line at the bottom but I know how difficult these things can be to address given program constraints. I can remember having a similar problem in the Ageod Napoleon game, where a control box was dropping too low and hiding casualty totals and having to live with it as long as I played that game.
