Tips for playing on a surface pro?

Fury Games has now signed with Matrix Games, and we are working together on the next Strategic Command. Will use the Slitherine PBEM++ server for asynchronous multi-player.

Tips for playing on a surface pro?

Post by ScottGridley »

Hi all,
Just curious if there's anyone else playing on a surface? I have the surface pro 3 that I travel with. would love to play on the road, but controls are rough without a middle mouse button. Any tips welcome!

Thanks,
sg

Working fine for me on a Surface Pro 4 w/8g memory. No visual glitches that I see in a number of hex games due to surface's unusual screen size and resolution.

Game has crashed a few times over a dozen plays, but always correctly reloaded at start of turn. So no big deal.

About the only real problem i have is being no good at it! I'm amazed at the other commenter who says its way too easy using all the hardest settings. I guess that's why I'm not a general. Oh, and looking up and seeing i've been up waaay too late for "just another turn".

I'm also running it at this very moment on my Surface Pro 4 via docking station with external mouse/monitor. It also works detached from the docking station as well and haven't noted any issues.

Thanks all -
I took Yohan's suggestion and started using a USB mouse. Looking for a good BT alternative to the MS Mouse so I can keep my USB port free for other things.

Best,

Do you have the keyboard with it? Use + and - to zoom.

I'm on a Surface Pro 4 as well, works fine using the type cover for keyboard and mouse. It's not perfect, but using a touchpad for gaming never is. I use + and - for the mid zoom level.

I haven't done so yet for this game but I do have a portable keyboard (and plenty of wireless mice) that I sometimes use for gaming when I want to have the screen at a different angle from the rest (depends on where/how I want to sit).

I do have a keyboard, but I was trying to use it as a tablet. The pen/stylus helps a bit but not perfect. Guess the keyboard/mouse combo is going to be the best.

THANKS ALL!
