Cool moments in wargaming

Post by Peter Fisla »

I just came across something really cool few months ago, something that really stands out for me. I figured I share it with you all; I wondering if you guys came across something similar that makes it so memorable. Here a cool moment for me:

So few months ago, I was replaying the original Company of Heroes. I was playing the British expansion (for the first time) and I was in a mission where I was on a defense after my task force took a town centre from a bunch of Germans and the next stage of the mission was to hold the line and defend the town from German assault. As I was there setting up my defense perimeter, I heard a British chap saying "oh...wow, I found a cool looking umbrella" (or something like that). I didn't pay much attention to it at the time, then of course; all the hell broke loose, German PZ IVs and StuG IIIs everywhere assaulting with Engineers. Somehow I survived the mission and fended off the German assault. As the battle died down, and it was all quiet in the town...I heard the same British dude saying "What the hell, who stole my f*cking umbrella???!!!" with that heavy British accent. That so hilarious and totally unexpected I laughed so hard. [:D] The funny thing is, I have been playing wargames since really the early 90s...Close Combat 1 and Steel Panther days,to this day I have never came across something as funny as this. Considering of course, that all the computer wargames are such a serious affairs :)

Cheers!

Well, UPDATE2 is done..so I have a bit of free time :) I'm not much into strategic wargames but I'm currently having fun with Hearts of Iron 4.

Peter shouldn't you be working on multi-level buildings and walls, etc.?
