Manpower

Post by dhucul2011 »

Manpower limits are abstracted through hard build limits but I would still prefer something a little more.

I was thinking of reducing available German infantry units by about 15-20%.

In 1943 there would then be a DE for Germany to press their allies for more men. For a cost of 200 MPPs they could get a Slovak garrison, Hungarian corps, Italian corps and Romanian army.

I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts before I do this.

At first glance, I would appreciate this change as a hardship for the axle player, right? Possibly optional for a greater difficulty level? Unfortunately there are only a few pure infantry events for the axis. Otherwise, you can prevent this in a higher level and replace with your idea...

I think it's a real good idea, and historically accurate [;)]
Although the Hungarian 2nd Army and Romanian reinforcements may have arrived prior to 1943 [historically]?

I believe that there was a specific date that Hitler called on the minors to give more troops. Does anyone know what that date was?

For Hungary, it can be found here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Ar ... ion_duties

At the end of June, 1941, Germany summoned Hungary to join in the attack on the Soviet Union. Hungary continued to resist joining in the war. The matter was settled on June 26, 1941, when the Soviet air force bombed Košice.

However, it wasn't until April 1942 that the Hungarian 2nd Army joined the front line.

For Italy:

The CSIR was constituted on 10 July 1941 and, between July and August 1941, the various units of the CSIR arrived in southern Russia.

But then the expansion into the Italian 8th Army:
In July 1942, the ARMIR was created ...

The Slovaks are a little more convoluted:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slovak_Re ... viet_Union

See the paragraph - Slovak forces during the campaign against the Soviet Union

If memory serves me, the Romanian 3rd and 4th Army's were both in at the beginning of Barbarossa. There was a website that gave real good details, I'll see if I can find when I get a minute. It was ro.something, or something.ro, or something like that [&:]
