Home Islands west. In the sync bug version of the assault at Kumamoto, a number of additional air strikes flew, mostly B-29 and B-24 groups. They greatly increased the already good performance of the other air strikes and the naval bombardments, resulting in 36 to 1 final AV!!!

In the real turn results those air strikes did not happen and obviously a number of key units of the defense were still viable, resulting in final odds of 2 to 1.

"Missed it by that much!" We have 1,680 AV there now. Imperial strength recons as 34 units, 126,060 troops, 992 guns, and 1,252 AFV. Yesterday was 37 units, 134,040 troops, 988 guns, and 1,308 AFV.

In addition to night air strikes and MTB sorites that all missed our ships, there was this attempt to disrupt proceedings.

Our AV today is 1,754. The P-38 groups and some attack bomber groups are standing down due to flak losses so we have them ready for the next assault.

The staff did not screw up the orders - they were late being issued because the staff got into the US Navy's "torpedo juice" and were rendered incapable of giving any orders . . .

At any rate you can see the fatigue is in the 50s in three of the other four divisions, even after a day resting in reserve mode! It would be really great if it drops enough tomorrow to order an attack the day after, but I'm not confident it will drop so much.

At Shanghai I wanted to get all the remaining assigned units in place (done as of the turn I am about to post), and I want to have a powerful naval bombardment to help the assault. The various assigned units badly damaged in the last assault are now all in Nanking to recover.

At Manila I am just waiting for enough AV to recover. I would prefer to have only units with a favorable ratio of healthy to disabled devices so that no more than inevitable are lost destroyed (instead of becoming disabled), but I will probably not wait that long. Part of the issue at Manila is that fortifications are still high and I need to husband the forces there so they will be able to finish the job. If they get too weak reducing fortifications they will need a long time to recover before capturing Manila.
