Windowed Mode : Why cannot I resize the WiTP AE Window ?

Post by pavel01 »

I added the -w to the .exe file in order to have it launch the game in Windowed Mode (Windows 7).

Yet, when War in the Pacific AE starts in Windowed mode, the window displayed has "stuck" boundaries.

That is, I am unable to resize it.

Is there a way that I can unblock it and, thus, be able to resize it to what I would prefer?

And no, the enlarge button on the top left corner is NOT pressed so, resizing "should" be possible.....

Thanks !

No, AFAIK it does not work that way. You can use the screen resolution switches on the shortcut to make it the size you want, but it will not resize once it is running.

Thank you for the kind reply.

That's odd, though, because before updating the WiTP AE to the most current patch, I was able with the -w to resize the game's window. After patching to the latest one, I can no longer and I can't figure out why.....

Where exactly are these screen resolution switches? I don't see them.

From readme:

-px -py

To have any effect x must be greater than 1024 and y must be greater than 768. If values less than or equal to px=1024 and py=768 are used the original values of 1024 and 768 will be substituted. Spanning mode is not supported and user should ensure that both the video adapter and monitor support the px and py values.

Ex:

-f -px1920 –py1200 for a 1920x1200 monitor in full screen mode

-w –px1680 –py1050 for windowed mode, so that the window is within desktop

Put that in command line. Still runs in a small box, no full screen.

For heaven's sake -- post the switches you have so we are not guessing with no info!

The quotation marks are in the wrong spot.

Alfred means should be this.
"C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\Beta2\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -wd -altFont -px1920 -py1080 -multiaudio -dd_sw -skipVideo -deepColor -SingleCpuOrders -cpu2

Changed it but still no go. I get a full black screen with the game in a box in the center. Tried to take a screen shot but couldn't.

Are you using Windows 10? If so try this:

1. Right click on the WitP exe
2. Click Troubleshoot compatibility
3. When an option comes up, choose the one: "it worked on a previous version of windows"
4. Say yes to w/e it does, it should run the game once, confirm that it worked
5. Game should now run on windows 10

Be sure to still use the shortcut with the appropriate switches. Make sure the shortcut is pointed to the right exe (the one you modified) and set to start in the right folder.

If you are talking about the startup screens and the menus to start or load a game, those do NOT get larger. only the game play screens get larger (based on the switches you use).

That was it! I didn't start a scenario to see that. Thanks all so much!
