Is there a Modern mod, using present day units?

No, but keep in mind that the ATG system has some troubles to simulate modern conflict

1-No in flight refuel
2-No helicopters
3-No radar/ECM simulation
4-Simulation of combat between missile armed ships is somewhat troublesome, you given them long range artillery and unlimted anmo or ability to carry "kamikaze" missiles, neither is a good soluction

Still, it would be possible to create a modern mod and use the editor to fix some shortcomings of the game engine
