Losing bombers despite air superiority

Post by Pionpion »

Hi guys
I'm playing a campaign game as german right now. We're in summer 1942 and the Red air power is growing but I still have hundreds of fighters. Suddenly I see that unescorted bombers are downed (56 in a single fight), which is absurd. How do you cope with that ? I spent many admin points to create specialized airbases. But is creating mixed bombers/fighters airbases a solution to this drawback ? It is a problem to me in the game (I've lost more in a secondary combat than on tens of earlier dogfights).

Lets see your Air Doctrine screen. But I bet I know what you are doing and what is happening ;} Think of it this way, you made 56 Russian Pilots VERY VERY happy ;-P

Some suggestions as to what you could look at:

1) Do you have fighter Air Groups within range to escort your attacking bombers?
2) Have you flown your fighters to their limit (100% flown)?
3) Is your bombing attack done at the extreme range of your fighter air groups?
4) Are your fighter air groups at less than 60% strength (ie forbidden to fly)?
5) Do your fighter air groups have fuel and supplies?
6) Are your fighter air groups in the correct command tree?
