Nagasaki/Sasebo is going to have a great repair shipyard when we get it fixed up. Extra supply is being sent in to support that effort.

The complete combat report, for combat junkies. Notice the air strikes by the Empire on our troops in hex 104,58, where our armor ejected the marching Imperials to cut the escape route from Kyushu to Honshu. Highly competent escorts!

China Outback. Getting supplies into Hami is proving very difficult. The base is repairing but we hope also to be able to support air strikes. In about 3 or 4 days the armour will be inposition to make their first attack.

The M4A2 Sherman Tank began production this month . . .

This is the diesel powered, Lend Lease variant. I suggest that you look at the UK/Commonwealth armored units as well as the Soviets for this tank.

The M4 appears to be a catchall for the various Shermans except for the 105mm armed CS version and the wonderful Zippos for their BBQ ability. I don't even see a 76mm armed version since against the Japanese it would not have made that much of a difference.

You are doing quite well using the Finnish Winter War tactics against the Home Islands. Just don't leave Fusan for the last since there could be a breakout from there that could trap most of your armies . . .
Seek peace but keep your gun handy.

I'm not a complete idiot, some parts are missing! :o

OK, I haven't looked to see where that tank does actually go. I saw in Tracker the M4A2 has a large increase in anti-armor and that's what led me to wonder if it was the next generation and maybe should be an upgrade path from the plain M4.

Fusan is across the water from Honshu and I'm not much worried about it. Do you mean Shimonoseki (check my spelling!), the one on Honshu where it connects to Kyushu? I'm leaving the TD Bn and eventually at least a division too as security while the remaining Imperial units on Kyushu are destroyed.

My plan is to take Oita, then trap those units in the countryside with units from Kagoshima after that base falls (which should be one or two days at most). They can be destroyed that way while other units move on Kanoya, which will then be the last Imperial base on Kyushu. There will still be 7 islands around Kyushu, including Tsushima, but landings require preparation so those Imperials will likely listen to the end of the war on their radios.

No, I mean Fusan which was later known as Pusan . . .

As far as the islands are concerned, if you don't need your Naval artillery elsewhere, they could stop by for some visits. No need for those units to feel left out. Depending upon what is there, you may not need strong forces nor as much preparation as you otherwise would. Since well trained forces can keep up to 33% of their prep, then a couple of weeks of rest should get them well over 50% and any follow up forces added should not be bothered as much by a lack of preparation.
Seek peace but keep your gun handy.

I'm not a complete idiot, some parts are missing! :o

Just don't leave Fusan for the last since there could be a breakout from there that could trap most of your armies . . .
If that Sherman has better anti-armour values it is probably the Sherman "Firefly" which the British and Commonwealth units modified by replacing the low-velocity 75mm gun with the high velocity 17 pounder anti-tank gun. That one could penetrate frontal armour on a Tiger tank.

RJ - you still haven't explained about what breakout from Fusan you are imagining? The Japanese do not have sufficient control of the seas or air to lift troops from there and deposit them on Kyushu. Was your breakout a tongue-in-cheek reference to the Allied breakout in the Korean war?
No matter how bad a situation is, you can always make it worse. - Chris Hadfield : An Astronaut's Guide To Life On Earth

Home Islands east. Convoy loading for Tsu invasion completed. The convoys and the British carriers are heading for Daito Shoto, where the carrier air groups will get orders (some are new and training). The US carriers and the surface forces will meet them there, then Daito Shoto will be the departure point for the run in to Tsu. The P-47 groups on sweep duty on Shikoku are changing target to Kobe, 278 fighters, and hoping to draw reponse from Osaka/Kyoto with its 305 fighters. Hiroshima/Kure is empty of fighters and has not responded to sweeps in a couple of days, so the switch itself is natural and should not provide target info.

Yes, Fusan is a tongue-in-cheek reference to the Korean war. But still, don't let the enemy escape from a trap.

I just checked and in the version that I am playing, the M4A2 is used by the Soviets. It should have the short barreled, medium velocity 75mm gun which should be good enough against the Japanese tanks. In fact, when the AP shell was used against the Japanese light tanks, the AP shell would go right through the tank so HE was usually used.
Seek peace but keep your gun handy.

I'm not a complete idiot, some parts are missing! :o
