Game is working fine IMO

Fury Games has now signed with Matrix Games, and we are working together on the next Strategic Command. Will use the Slitherine PBEM++ server for asynchronous multi-player.

Game is working fine IMO

Post by bo »

I was a beta tester for MWIF until it draggged on a little too long for me, read comments about SC before I purchased the game. There was some negativity about the game on the forums so I was a little leery about buying it. Some nice posters assured me the game played well and I thank you for that.

It seems some players are having a few problems and not enjoying the game and I feel sorry about that. I am retired so I am putting many hours into the game, two important things I found out about the game.

1-I am no Erwin Rommel that's for sure.

2-One minor crash in all the many hours I have put into the game, IMO it runs flawless, for the first time the other day I had the Russians on the ropes until the allies landed in France and dashed my dreams of victory [:(].

If I had any complaints which I really don't, it is the overpowering US planes in early 1943, and the other is that towns are way to close to each other which makes for difficulties in using pincer movments to surround and put Russian units out of supply.

This game is about supply and I have yet to master that part of the game, might never get it right[;)] wonderful war game, thanks Fury.

Hi Bo.

Great to hear that you like the game, and thanks for your nice comments toward those who encouraged you to give the game a chance.
:)

I agree with you, bo. I think this is a great game. [&o]

1) The AI is great, much better that in other games.
2) The map is awesome and the nato counters are fine.
3) The game is easy to learn. I have played as Allied and as Axis, and enjoy both a lot.
4) I love the historical messages and the beginning of some turns. The game tells you about the release of Gone with the wind or about the Red Orchestra.
5) You can play pretty historically, with fast mechanized units in cauldron battles, advancing after breaking the enemy frontline with the help of planes and artillery.

I'm looking forward to the multiplayer version, because I prefer to play against a human.

Hi Carlos, not too good with artillery, does not seem to do much damage. When you say multi-player are you talking about PBEM?

I agree there is only one way to play and that is against a human opponet, but I think the way to go is net play, when I did beta testing for MWIF we tested net play using skype to talk to each other. You see the map the other players move as he or she [;)] makes it. Wonderful way to play provided you and the other players can work out a time convenient for everyone.

Not to be critical but I feel that Matrix has not solved netplay on their servers, I stand corrected if they feel they have, but I would like to hear that from them, [Matrix] because it did not work well computer progamming wise, when we tested it.

Hi, Bo:

Yes, I'm talking about PBEM. I prefer PBEM because you can play with anyone anywhere. I'm from Spain and I've played against players from other countries of Europe, from USA, from New Zealand or China.

My spoken English is very poor, so it would be hard to me (ant to my opponent if he/she doesn't speak Spanish) to play on net using Skype

¡Hola compañero!

Here is another Spanish guy!

Game is quite good. Of course it could be improve, but i'm enjoying it a lot. And i cant' imagine how much i will enjoy it when PBEM will be available.

In my humble opinion some people ask too much to this game, i mean, they ask features that are not in the "basket" of the game. "Too much" micromanagement or "too much" realism or... "too much" knowledge on one single topic.... This is a "intermediate" game (complexity).

Of course, their opinions are valuable as maybe any of them could be add to the game!!! [:'(][:'(] I just say that sometimes i feel that they want another different game and SC is what it is!

Hopefully Hubert will be back soon and the first patch and PBEM will be released!

Greetings!
