Home Islands west.
Units moving, bases building, a supply convoy unloading, sweeps...

Home Islands east.
Some surface groups and several carrier groups of the invasion fleet have been spotted, but none of the convoys. Still enough for Imperial defenses to stand to, so tomorrow should be most eventful.

Air losses. A hard day in the air even with small casualties. The Imperials still have many fine pilots and we are training people to catch up.

I have the replay back but not the turn, as this will be one of those "turn of a thousand clicks" for Walter, probably due to the air strikes against Tokyo. To whet your appetite: Manila is secured, further progress at Shanghai, victory in the forest in Manchuria, the fleet is safe, and over Tokyo a great victory was won (as the Oracle predicted). Here are the (non-zero) casualty lines from the various air combat reports concerning Tokyo.

That is a lot of combat reports.

With all of those airbase and runway hits, do you think that the airbases are shut down? There are also lots of damaged aircraft as well. Hopefully he will rail them all to Tsu to get fixed. [:D]

With all of the damaged aircraft that you have, do you think that you will be able to launch more airstikes with enough forces to put another big hurt on his airunits?

Wait ... you aren't using the one they call The Red Witch are you? Was she wearing a pendant?? Did she like to stare into fire? Do you have an anti-beheading collar on?

Hard to say. There were fumes and lots of wind, and a headache afterwards.

Do you have an anti-beheading collar on?

Are you referring to what the US Marines used to wear to protect their necks?
Leatherneck: The nickname Leatherneck has become a universal moniker for a U.S. Marine. The term originated from the wide and stiff leather neck-piece that was part of the Marine Corps uniform from 1798 until 1872. This leather collar, called The Stock, was roughly four inches high and had two purposes. In combat, it protected the neck and jugular vein from cutlasses slashes. On parade, it kept a Marine's head erect.

No idea - Tokyo is either a size 9 or 10. Sure he has lots of engineers there to make repairs, too.

There are also lots of damaged aircraft as well. Hopefully he will rail them all to Tsu to get fixed. [:D]
Oh, that would be nice! But with plenty of good bases available I doubt he will put them on the coast near an armada. Even naval bombardments without invasion would be devastating.

With all of the damaged aircraft that you have, do you think that you will be able to launch more airstikes with enough forces to put another big hurt on his airunits?
I really can't say until I get the turn, but I am hopeful considering the low number of destroyed aircraft. Chances seem pretty good that I will have plenty left for another day. Likely he is railing out the air groups so I will probably target another major, nearby base like Osaka/Kyoto.

Our troops in Shanghai are really tired, making it more and more difficult to find semi-rested units to continue the attack, but I am reluctant to let the defenders have any respite.

Home Islands east.
Several night air strikes against our carriers were weathered. Our own carriers made a few daytime strikes but the going was tough against swarms of Imperial fighters and not worth it. I'll double check the range settings on the strike groups. The sweeps against Tokyo went in last, as is standard procedure in my air wings. But this day all the early raids were well and ably escorted and so the sweeps were not so terribly missed as usual.

The air strikes on airfields at Tokyo went well. To say the least. See air losses and Tokyo in later posts. Tomorrow the B-24 groups will hit Kobe (f: 234, b: 0, a: 26) while the B-29 groups hit Osaka/Kyoto (f: 195, b: 15, a: 51). Both bases will receive sweeps, as will Nagoya (to a small degree). One old 2-BB TF will bombard Tsu and air strikes from Shikoku will hit defenses there, as will the TB on board the various CVE. One old 1-BB TF will bombard Nagoya in hope of disruting operations of the 194 fighters, 61 bombers, and 65 auxiliary types seen there.
