I want a highly detailed (land, air and naval combat) game of the Mediterranean War June 1940 - May 1943.

I'd settle for a highly detailed (land, air and naval combat) game of the Guadalcanal Campaign May 1942 - December 1942.

I'd be willing to devote as much time as possible for free to make it happen.

I've not mentioned this before so just thought I'd put it out there [:D]

Is hard say because many games i am interested are simple anounced with not a clear release date and others are a big ? because you cant see nothing about them.

But there is allways something you know is going to be this year and how is going to be.

I wait this year:

-Panzer Battles 3, looks is going to cover Crusader, Merkur and maybe something more (i imagine is going to be pre-Crusader battles)

-Panzer Battles demo... a serie of interesting battles, Battle of Hannut 1940,Bogodukhov post Kursk 1943, Mersa Brega 1941 and the most exotic in Tiller non SB titles.. battle of Tenaru river.

-JT napoleonic battles 2nd title of Peninsular war, looks like is going to be ready this year if all work ok (the 2nd title to complete Marengo in revolutionary war covering European battles is not ready in 2017 but maybe 2019-8...)

-Close combat the bloody first... i still find it interesting but lack of info and continuous delays made me send it to the section of "wait and see"

Are other titles i am interested but are not clear when are going to be avaliable...

-A Galley period WEGO game, no title yet, from the creator of Quadriga

-Bloody april, 1917 ... i allways want a WWI air title outside of simulator area, is not exactly what i want but... i love see a "Rule The waves" but set in WWI airwarfare with research, production and no problem in lack of tactical combat even when add it is not bad.

-Steel Tigers... someday we are going to know more about the title... after see the new Warhammer videos and screenshots i think that even using the classic 2D cenital vision the improvement in art is going to help made game more attractive only need mantein old detail level and even fix some area.

-Field of Glor 2... i am interested after find very disapointment the FOG 2.0 (i dont buy last 2 army packs for example specially when they cant work in old FOG engine version that is muuuuuch better than reworked one).

-Still i am following a pair of titles from Lock ´n load but looks like in the PC area they are moving slow (i like their plans for new version of tactical games using a system like in FOG with base game+packs+battle generator)

Maybe, if not the actual game, more info on Steel Tigers.

Finally get a patch out to make Tigers Unleashed a viable purchase!

Bloody April '17. After touting it around developers for over a year it would be odd if I wasn't looking forward to it.

Hopefully see NUTS (Two hour wargames game), Warbirds: Canvas Falcons and the new edition of Streets of Stalingrad get a developer to make a PC version.

Streets of Stalingrad 4th Edition

U Boat

End State

More info on WOFF developers WW2 venture

Sanctus Reach (the preview impressed more than I thought it would infact it was closer to what I hoped it would be like. This will def be a major hit for Matrix\Slitherine on par with Panzer Corps if not even bigger. I reckon the best WH40K game since Chaos Gate)

Chain of Command

Art of Tactical War

Dark Future

Mount & Blade BannerLord

Rising Storm: Vietnam

Battletech

Divinity Original Sin 2

Wasteland 3

More Graviteam Tactics Muis front DLC

My thoughts on such a game (and trying to reign in my actual wishlist to keep reasonable…..)

1. First and foremost the game needs to look good. Aesthetics are so important:
- NATO counters for land units
- Ships and aircraft silhouettes.
- Simple, elegant, clean map that looks good on its own but does not detract from the counters
- Enough zoom levels for us older gamers with less than perfect eyesight
- (In other words, think Matrix World In Flames).

2. Given the relative lack of units the army will be represented by battalions.
- Individual ships
- Air force Squadrons

3. The game is a proper Mediterranean War game and starts in June 1940 when the Italians declare war on the British and French. The game ends when the Allies historically took Tunisia to end the war in North Africa in May 1943. In other words its not a Rommel love-fest- although Erwin Rommel will no doubt be prominently featured in the game.

4. The gaming map covers North Africa from Morocco (will need a small area of Atlantic coast too here for Torch) to Egypt and the Mediterranean Sea. Other areas – Greece, Syria, Spain, Iraq, East Africa are covered by decisions (see below). The land war, for either side grinds to a halt if supplies are not properly husbanded and troops not used effectively. In the desert, armoured units are king. The naval war – as per real life – centres on the convoys:
- Gibraltar and Alexandria to Malta
- Italy to Libya and later Tunisia
- Egypt to Greece
The map would have single convoy and fleet counters - but each player decides the make up of the fleet/convoy - its composition and positioning. Any combat action would take place on a separate screen so that enemy aircraft can be directed against individual ships or ships can fire on specific ships - in other words, proper battles etc.

5. The game focuses on three central things. Logistics and supply for the troops in the desert (and the need to keep Malta in the war) and the need for the navies to supply what was required and to use their navies (and air forces) to deny those things to the enemy.

6. Because of the level of detail, the game mechanics – you know the fun stuff like fighting - would satisfy the land aficionado and the naval wargamer alike but there would be a “Card” system whereby players can get involved in the highly interesting and complex political issues that affected the theatre so much. Relations between Germans and Italians are not warm and cosy.
- For example as the German player:
- The Mediterranean is a backwater – the Soviet Union is Hitler’s raison d’etre
- Resources allocated to the theatre are limited - the more Rommel demands and gets, the bigger the victory point hit.
- The Germans have three countries – an ally (Italy) a would-be ally (Spain) and a beaten enemy it suits them to keep on-side (Vichy). Any diversion from history in terms of their status will have potential consequences for Germany and those countries.
- Donitz wants his U-Boats in the North Atlantic – Hitler wants at least some in the Mediterranean – who wins that battle and at what cost?
- As the Italian player:
- For Mussolini, the Mediterranean is Mare Nostrum, he dreams of a New Roman Empire and it starts in Africa, but his plans also include the hated Yugoslavs and the Greeks. What options are taken in respect of these?
- Italy’s oil supplies for its generally newer navy, are limited – how best does the Regia Marina utilise that oil and those ships?
- For the British player:
- Wavell has few troops for such an enormous area; East Africa, Palestine, Iraq, Egypt. He has Italian Libya to the west, Vichy Syria to the north, Italian East Africa to the south and an Iraq ripe for revolt to his east. Fun. He is also competing with the needs of the UK and the threat of invasion – and for good measure he has “action this day” Churchill bending his ear every 5 minutes ordering him on the offensive or taking troops away on stupid adventures e.g. Greece.
- The navy is stretched to breaking point and Cunningham’s ships are not exactly the pick of the bunch…
- The Commonwealth Dominions have their own needs after Japan joins the war

7. All choices come at a cost of victory points. Nothing comes for Free.

8. This would be a game designed so that either side can "win" – a bit like the real thing really – but the Axis need to win early or their opportunity will slip away. However, they can still win the game if they inflict enough victory point losses on the British (and Americans) even if ultimately kicked off the continent. They can also remain in Africa at the end and lose because they have lost too many victory points to do so.

One can dream [:)]

Thanks for the heads-up on possible future releases. I made it through the entire Matrix/Steam sales events spending only $3. That is iron discipline, I tell you.

Actually, in 2017 some people (like me) may finally get to play what they have. As far as Close Combat, I don't think the devs have got what it takes to really break the Close Combat mold we've been seeing for years. However, if I am wrong I hereby promise to buy the game for myself and a friend, so as to support the devs.

Warspite's game should be easily achievable if there is crowdfunding for wargames. All the Matrix titles released on Steam was a good step. However, I think the interest level continues to drop from generation to generation.

Mount and Blade Bannerlord - What's not to like? One of the best games ever getting bigger and better.
Star Citizen 3.0 update - This is supposed to be a big leap towards what the final game will look like. They are only at 2.6 right now, so we will see if they make it there.
Battletech - Might not actually release, but I will have access to any alpha/beta versions they put out, and will definitely be playing.

On the wargame side of things, I'm happy to see what the year brings (Steel Tigers?), but I will probably focus mostly on playing my large, barely-scratched-the-surface-of collection.

Mr. President and Fields of Fire I/II are my primary concerns in the realm of boardgames. Wouldn't be surprised if they are pushed to the end of the year or even 2018 though.
