Well done! Like you, I did not expect Tsu to fall so quickly. Given your propensity to land in clear terrain hexes, he should have expected that one and garrisoned accordingly.

To be fair, there are a bunch of (as Walter put it) "nice beaches" to land on, so he couldn't cover them all in force. Plus, the entry points on Hokkaido and Shikoku were both not clear terrain.

Now I want to get the northern invasions moving as fast as possible.

Nice beaches ... well then we expect to see cabanas and bit-kini clad winsome lasses soon. Pictures or your BFs are slacking! [8D]

Wow, the Tsu invasion took just 2 days to conquer the base. Not expected that. Also, those air losses got to hurt. Now onward to Tokyo [:D]

The question is, how is the empire's faring really? How many planes are available, how many supplies to feed them etc? I really have to wonder, because those losses are really high.

Congratulations! Tsu and Manila with Shanghai collapsing. [&o] Now you can take the units from Manila and invade Korea . . .

Tsu had a negative supply modifier. It reminds me of something about the Japanese soldier at the end of World
War II, they only had about 2 pounds of supplies per man.

What do you get when a 16" (or even a 15" or a 14") shell impacts on a HDML/PTboat? Toothpicks!
Seek peace but keep your gun handy.

I'm not a complete idiot, some parts are missing! :o

Almost all of those units from Luzon are needed for garrison duties in the Home Islands. I don't want to tie up divisions, especially ones that are fully equipped.

2 days, yes, but the first day was only landing. The first ground assault took the base! [X(]

I think the Empire is bereft of supply. Aircraft - I really don't know. It takes supply to fly aircraft so I must presume that the bases flying strikes are the ones with supply caches, and there were a bunch of them last turn. My hope with aircraft is on the once per week draw for aircraft, and that being 12 planes unless the squadron was down to 0 on hand (in which case it can fill out).

He started to but didn't have time available to keep it up. I don't recall how many turns he updated it for. I think I remember he called it "A Southwestern Rumble" so you might find it by searching.

One more Imperial unit, the 84th Division. Tomorrow a large Allied force will cross from Takamatsu on Shikoku into Fukuyama on Honshu. The game display does not tell if it is treated as a river crossing with required shock attack, but I figure it must be. Also tomorrow the remaining units assigned to the reduction of Oita will arrive there to commence operations.

It seems I failed to catch at least one newby squadron on training.
Training mission from No.879 Sqn FAA caught up in attack
Also forgot to cancel the carrier borne torpedo bomber ground attacks, so they follow the retreated enemy to Osaka/Kyoto. Luckily it was a good raid. Our carrier jockies also made several anti-shipping strikes, finishing a CS in the process. Our ships weathered several night strikes while the Imperial day strikes were all destroyed at a distance.

The support troops should begin unloading at Tsu in 2 days. Meanwhile the runways are cleared and half the service damage repaired. There should be a down payment made on port repairs by the time it is needed. All amphibious convoys finished unloading and are on their way home. Several of them are being redirected to Hokkaido.

I don't see a retreat path unless they were trained in water-walking. You have enough troops east of them that supply flow has not had time to find any gaps, so the AI would think no retreat is possible.

Trying to recall from my last game when I had troops make the same crossing (and also to Okayama). IIRC it is not treated as a river crossing because it is a strait and because you are crossing on a bridge. Should be the same at Shimonoseki.
Disclaimer: sometimes I do not "recall correctly" ...[:D]

I've seen that retreat paths can be a lot longer than supply paths (but the length is calculated the same way), so I figured those hexes SE of Chihfeng would allow a retreat path to one of the bases beyond. If units don't retreat they usually stay in place for a few more days while being destroyed, so either way they must have been in bad shape.
