Solved: Equipment selection in scenario editor

Hi community,

How can I select the M551 [m] unit (SUTag "US204") of an armoured formation in the American data file as opposed to the M551 CS (SUTag "US203")? Whichever Tank formation I select in the unit browser, it only displays US203 but never US204?

Quick and partial answer is yes you can get the 551m into your units. But you may need to edit the data files to ensure tank battalions have the US204 as the units within them.

Somewhere there is a very full unofficial editing guide to the data files. If you slowly work your way through you will find all the tank platoons can be cheerfully edited to contain any tank included in the data base.

The guide is very good and straight forward but takes a little time. Modding Guide four is the one you are after.

My guess is either the year or type of formation is limiting the selection. I can check more when I get home from work.

Thank you both for your replies. After consulting the relevant mod guide again I found out that the unit(s) were not displayed due to their CompID setting which is "Tank-AC" / "Tank-AB" whereas the formations require "Tank" units. I was able to make them appear by changing the required units' CompIDs to "Tank" in the -USER data file.

That tells me it was a formation restriction and that particular version of the 551 was not used in the major formation type. My guess is you need to look at Cav formations for the 204.

Ah, yes the US204A shows-up in exactly one cavalry formation (Code USK8) but the US204 seems to be never used in any formation - searching for "Tank-AB" (which is the CompID of US204) in the Formations sheet has no results.

Luckily 204 and 204A are the same vehicle. It looks like US204 was setup for part of an airborne/air mobile formation that we never used. I'll have to do a bit more digging on that.
