Halsey's Planes art mod ...

Post by MakeeLearn »

Great mod thanks.

Taking a break from doing the roads on my map mod I experimented with this excellent plane artwork, that I just installed.
Been using the insignia for awhile , which are also great.

Made the wildcat look bluer

brought the green out more on the Betty Bomber...

that solid green Betty(on right) could use some yellow tabs on the front edge on wings.

Looking at some the different historical color pics to get a feel, then playing with the colors.

Halsey's models are very nice.

the yellow was already in Halsey's art, so I only had to saturate it to make it more noticeable.

Very nice...

Can't take full credit though...
Majority are Cathartes fine work, additions by Reg, with modifications by me.

Happy to see these are still in popular demand.[:D]

Mod to your personal tastes!!!

See if you can upgrade the late 44-45 USN planes to the all blue gloss.
Never quite got around to doing that correctly.[;)]

First class work!!!

Keep me posted, and I'll add them to the panels.

Best if you do them as individual plates.

It's easier to add them to the dated folders when they are done individually.

Thanks, new to this and its fun.

Save as ? a bmp just big enough to contain the plane? Iam not doing anything to the alphas. Where should i post the planes plates?

what are the dated folders?

Iam thrilled at these Dauntless' I did last night. I figured out how to "dip" a object into a color gradient without losing the transparency.

This game software only recognizes bitmaps for unit images.

The rotating air art, once downloaded into the game, uses folders with dates.
The dated folders tell the game program when to use them.
The bitmaps also must have a unit ID#, that way the program can identify the correct images.

The game will then show the change in paint scheme and insignia according to the bitmap located in the dated folder.

Open up one of the dated folders in the downloaded art and you will see how it should appear.

If you are only updating the main panel, your work will be ignored, and the images in the dated folders will take precedence.

I see, I had not installed the rotating plane art. I'd only installed the top art. I see how the plane's panels are place by years.

Consider your first ones as a practice run.[;)]

It's actually easier to do one panel at a time.

The numbered folders in the yearly folder represent the month the bitmap will activate in the game.

The entire advanced unit bitmaps, air, sea, and ground, took over 2 1/2 years to complete and compile.
It was a major effort.
I compiled the work of over a dozen contributors, then meshed them into the downloads you now see on my site.

I never did get the hang of the aluminium finish birds so if you feel the need to create more art for them...... [;)]

You were right on!!! I like the real look of the planes. Iam trying to bring out the colors without being too cartoony.

I changed the brightness and contrast a little. How does it look.
