Not all desert hexes seem to be labelled as such

Post by OxfordGuy3 »

In Eqypt, there seem to be quite a few hexes which I think are actually desert (they take 2 APs to enter and are a different colour from other clear hexes and the same colour as other desert hexes), but the description says they're "Clear" - could you check the Eqypt/Libya maps, as it's really not obvious what is actually desert and what is clear

e.g.

Not had any response to this yet, any thoughts or explanation as to why some of the "clear" hexes cost 2 points to enter? Are they just mislabled desert hexes?

I've worked it out, there are sand storms affecting all the hexes that unit is in.

If you look at the hex 2 hexes to the north of the unit, it contrasts with the one 3 hexes to the unit's north, where the weather is clear.

It looks like the Interface on your side isn't displaying weather information (it should be showing in the bottom left of your screenshot) otherwise this might have been clearer.

Okay, I see, so sandstorms affect movement cost?

Yes, they increase the movement cost by 1.

Ah, okay thanks, that explains it then! Can sandstorms happen at any time of year, or are they seasonal, like rain in the temperate zone?

Yes, there will be some variability in when they are likely to occur.
