Blockading

Post by Hartley »

If I have PTs and PGs parked in the enermy harbor hex, plus LRCAP - Is that enough to guarantee that no supplies are getting in ?

Not if they come in heavy with a transport fleet with destroyers and light cruisers, a covering force of heavy cruisers and battleships, etc. A blockade is only as strong as your ability to enforce it if tested. :)

They could also be flying supplies in via transport aircraft.

I meant supplies getting in while my ships are stil there and alive. That is, avoiding detection at night.

And isn't LRCAP the antidote to air supply ?

If you have a surface tf with an aggressive commander they should be intercepting suppy runs, unless the commander deems the odds to be suicidal. Like a fast transport of Battleships and Heavy cruisers, your brave PG captain probably isnt going to try and interdict them.

Yes, LRCAP is the answer to air resupply.

Can battleships run fast transport?

Yep.

It's nice running a resupply to PM with the North Carolina leading a handful of heavy cruisers, some CLs and DDs and encountering a Japanese bombardment TF on the way.

I dont recall if there was a patch tweak here, but in several PBEM games i've been running LRCAP to stop air resupply and troop reinforcement......and not getting much in the way of results....maybe 1-3 C47's but the rest seem to batter through.

A Fast Transport TF, accompanied by strong surface TF will get supplies in.

Don't use the BBs for fast transport, put them in a covering force. They engage the enemy while the FT drops off the supplies.

I tried using the big bad FT before, but the fight poorly and may not drop off the supplies.

If you have a big enough force to defeat anything the enemy may bring, then a blockade will work.

I think the message changed and you only get one message per group - not per plane. So 1-3 messages means you are intercepting one to three groups.:)

This is weird.

AGs are now coming in every night, but 50% of the time nobody engages them, and they go away unscathed.
