Yes, that ground strike is very good, because you might also disorganise the long range Italian FTR there. And that reduces the Italian possibilities to attack the precious CW CVP's in the Western Med for this turn.
And a lot of bad luck in AA combat against the Italian Fleet. That deserved a better outcome...

Any result other than an 8 and we would have been up to 3X's. An 8 would have given us 2X,2D,A. Had a 1 come up, we would have had 4X's.
At least there was enough to put the two TRANS out of commission for a while (even there the die could have been kinder and not bottomed the first TRANS). I'm not entirely sure the Axis were planning on using the TRANS anyway and may have preferred us hitting them to the fighting ships. In the short to medium term it helps to secure the Med. Fixing them takes BP's away from subs, NAV's and land units and also gives advance notice of any plans that will need sea-lift capability.

That's why there are so many die rolls in WiF. You got a luckier-than-not search roll, and a very unlucky AA roll. But made the X and D rolls. One X and one D on the TRS is a very good result.
RE: ALLENK, MAYHEMIZER AND THEIR ALLIES ONLY (Reverse AAR)
That's true. But with such a surprise die roll, one suddenly gets visions of a port full of destroyed ships.... [:D]
The ground strike on La Spezia was also a little unlucky. But as a whole, I believe the CW and the French did enough. The Italians lost a precious resource and their fleet will not dare to sail out into the Western Med.

It was goog allied strike and as CW player I would be happy, but the low US entry could be a big problem for the allies now if the Axis plays it slow and dont give good 39 chits away.

If it is raining, should we place INF to resource hex? CW can land units to city, I don't think Germany can invade two cities.

Without the DoW on Belgium, we could place the INF in Amsterdam and they wouldn't be able to take Rotterdam. In Amsterdam, CW can add some shore bombardment.

Do they have division in Kiel or in shore so that by taking combined they can also invade?
Can you use SB during surprise impulse?

You can place it to Amsterdam. Place TRS far away so that Germany can't port strike it.

Good point, no Defensive SB on surprise.
No divisions anywhere near any sea lift. Is it only the 2d10 table you get modifiers for city and factory?
Either way, Amsterdam can only be attacked from 2 hexes and if the attack gets disorganised, they'll have to reorganise and/or DoW Belgium to get at Rotterdam.

I think modifiers come only from 3 factory cities in 1D10.
Place it to Amsterdam then.

Don't forget, you have NEI. Put the good stuff over there.
Or any Dutch possessions[8D]

The allied units aginst Italy is a strong wall, but the line at belgium border is thin. Good axis weather/dice rolling in Belgium could be a big risk.
Also china needs to fix the center defence lines or face big trouble if JP attacks.

I'm not crazy about the German builds...depending on what he builds the end of ND.

Just to check regarding CV Bearn. Did you want to return this to Marseilles or somewhere a little more out of the way?

I didn't read anything about Rotterdam, but is it empty? If so, was it possible to send CW units at sea into Rotterdam on return to base?

It was possible to return the TRANS with the MOT to Rotterdam but they would have been OOS and the TRANS couldn't have been reorganised. The Allies are then in the hands of the dice gods as to what happens next. Axis win the initiative (which it turned out they did), put in a good ground-strike and the MOT is very probably history, leaving a 30% chance of one of the better TRANS being lost (bad enough) and 10% chance of it being captured (worse). I decided not to chance it.
This was one of those times when although it generally suits the Allies for the turns to end early at this stage of the game, it did so one impulse too early. With another Allied impulse, the MOT would have disembarked to Rotterdam and a CP sent to North Sea.

Ok, very good. Just wanted to know what happened there. You need some bad weather to have a chance to set up behind the Dyle.

Here is the situation in Europe at the start of J/F 1940. (In Rotterdam Germany has only CP)
If Germany attacks Belgium now, they can't take Brussels or Antwerp. Right? They can't break through during rain?
If I place weak units to red circles, 5 strength unit to blue circle and plane to yellow circle German front line will be at black line after their impulse. CW can take Antwerp and France takes rest of the line.
CW should bring two more units to France fast, we need them when Belgium falls.
I think German ATR and div in La Spezia are for Sardinia.

Looks like they can break through if they attack so that rail road leads from attacking hex to target hex.
So I guess there is no other option than to go with traditional set up (weak unit to Liege, other two units to Antwerp). With ground support Antwerp attack will be 5:1.
