Second Impressions

VR designs has been reinforced with designer Cameron Harris and the result is a revolutionary new operational war game 'Barbarossa' that plays like none other. It blends an advanced counter pushing engine with deep narrative, people management and in-depth semi-randomized decision systems.

Second Impressions

Post by Templer_12 »

After playing the game for a while now, this is a collective thread, a continuation of: First Impressions

For me, Decisive Campaigns Barbarossa is an outstanding game for which, now after the many updates and patches, I would have spent more money without hesitation.

Whether Decisive Campaigns Barbarossa ruined me, I do not know: This game has ruined..

In the game, I find only a little what I do not like, even less what I find hard to accept.
There is:
• No Pz 35(t) and Pz 38(t). I miss them: Pz 35(t) and Pz 38(t)
• Missing images to seperate infantry vs. heavy infantry. Verry sloppy work (sorry): Missing images
• Decisive Campaigns Barbarossa does not start 39, and, does not end 45. For me the most painful blemish with DCB… [:(]

Apart from that, there is a huge positive list.
One of the best: the outstanding support.

At the end:
What a game, what an immersion, what a masterpiece.

Re the missing heavy infantry german image, I notice that the image for German Engineers (see below) is apparently not used AFAIK in DCB. Maybe it could be used (as a mod or in the 1.04 official patch) as an image for German heavies ?

Yeah, I hear some scolding: Templar, aren't you something very petty? (i. e. missing images)
No not at all!
If you have such a diamond, then you want that to be perfected to perfection.

Sorry Cameron...

Hi Templer,

No worries.

The smaller tanks aren't there due to interface restrictions (number of SFT units that can be displayed at any one time without having to scroll). Compromises had to be made. The Pz35(t) & Pz38(t) both took a bullet for the greater good.

Heavy Infantry images? Guilty as charged.

Having the game portray the full Russian campaign? Nope, wishful thinking there. I'd still be chugging away on such a beast assuming the same level of detail. The dog and I. My wife and kids would have left me.

Cheers,
Cameron
