OK this sounds more like I need to do a third install (I have two other's which I'm running PBEM's). My intention was NOT to either screw up my other two PBEMs and their installs, hence the reason I wanted stock. Please be so good as to tell me EXACTLY what you want/need/prefer so that I can figure out what I need to do to fix this.

Whatever you guys do, test before you leap:

Gorn create a second PBM in a different save slot but of course in the same installation.
• Gorn enters password, don't bother with any orders, end turn.
• Gorn sends to Human.
• Human enters password, no orders, end turn.
• Human sends turn to Gorn.
• Gorn runs turn rsolution.
• Gorn opens turn, no orders, end turn.
• Gorn sends turn to Human.
• Human runs combat replay.
• Human opens turn, no orders...

Now the inter-species conspiracy has effectively run a game through giving orders for turn 1, running turn 1, opening turn 2, and should have encountered NO ERROR MESSAGES. If error messages were encountered, figure out the problem and try again. When there are no error messages encountered, delete that test PBM and go back to creating the real PBM in the slot desired.

A separate install for each PBM is definitely recommended!

+1 to that recommendation!

Also, I believe that error can be caused by one player using stacking limits and the other play not using them. A simple way to check is if the file dates are the same. The SL file is dated 5/06/12 while the non-SL map file is dated from 2010 I believe.

Forgot to mention that if this is the problem, simply copy the desired map file into the appropriate game folder and you are good to go. No restarts needed! [:)][:)]

We don't need the thinly veiled 'drive by' political ramblings on this (or any other) thread, IronWarrior. That's a good way to get 'em locked up. [:-]

Macroeconomics humor- an acquired taste I'll admit, not many would "get it". Was in reference to his Dem bashing (not that I'm a fan). Anyways, I'll behave. ;)

It's deception. Steve will be lethargic by the time the game starts, then Gorn The Graceful will appear, moving with dazzling speed and decisive power.

Or something like that. [:D]

Lethargic? Probably in the final stages of rigor mortis [;)] Hoping they both are able to get over this
bump in the road patiently and efficiently.

Is my understanding correct that the beta patch does not impact OOB or anything else and that it just affects the .exe?

That is correct.
In that case it would be possible for two players to play two different types of the game, right (the Japanese with the beta and the Allied with 'stock')?

Negative. You need to be on the same patch. The betas are fine and both they and stock have some glitches. Beta is better IMHO.
I do not think that chemkids map mod changes the pwhex files, just the artwork.

Right, the artwork files don't matter as long as its not on an extended map. As opposed to a standard map.

I will add my feeble attempt to clarify that last one.

The pwhex data (three files) is the map the computer reads. The map art files are the map the humans read. They must match up, or else the human will be misled. For example, the human might think there is land where the computer knows there is ocean, and so on.

So, yes, you can change map art at will and even have different map art for each player, but make sure it faithfully represents the "real" map that the computer uses.

Thanks for the clarification witpqs. I know we all want to get this show on the road.

Nah - looks more like a shoe fetish ...
PS - don't they let these ladies swing their arms? Irish step dancers maybe?

Could be. The brave young women are not wearing general issue high heels, each seems to have a unique set of heels on.[;)]

If error messages were encountered, figure out the problem and try again. When there are no error messages encountered, delete that test PBM and go back to creating the real PBM in the slot desired.

Please stop calling Steve names before Bill locks this thread!

I believe we will do this but first I need to back up the WitP-AE folder, then install the latest official patch. I think I'll put the ugly stock map in there and then run those tests.
