With only the DoW on Japan, it might be an idea to try and ramp up the US Entry as high as it will go, so as to lower the DoW chance against Germany and Italy. We need to DoW every country that doesn't give resources or units to the Allies.

Gamey, but allowed. It's good reasoning...

I got the idea from one of your AAR's and I think you mentioned it in one of the earlier posts.

Whether or not we try DoW'ing everybody, should we try and grab Portugal before the Allies invade it?

I come online later tonight. We don't have enough units to take Portugal yet.

I thought that might be the case. What units does Portugal get when DoW'd?

One or two corps, not sure. But I tested it earlier, we need 4 corps and air forces to make it automatic. If we fail, Allies land for free to Portugal.

I suppose if we wait for an Allied DoW at least we'll get them on our side for a bit.

I have to get to bed now.

You can DoW on those neutral countries that does not give resources to US if you want to.

Germany takes land.

If Italy sends plane to BoB to initiate combat, Germany sends Fw190 and Bf110D to box 2 and intercepts with NAV.

We can't attack Malta in rain. If Italians can send 2 subs to East Med to sink CP (and another CP on Allied impulse) we can hope fine weather. At least one CA is needed in La Spezia to transport INF div.

If Stuka hits only MIL in Malta (OOS) their defense is 4 (if you hit ENG too, defense is 3). PARA + German INF div + Italian INF div are together 6,5, with SB that is 13.

If you give instructions, I can continue tomorrow.

Think I'll pass on the DoW. Partly because it is a bit gamey and partly because I haven't a clue which countries don't add units to the Allies.

German instructions:

Germany takes land action

No additional air to BoB

If northern Spain goes OOS, Germany ground strikes a lot. If not, only two artillery fires to Santander and Bilbao.

Rail moves: INF from Gibraltar to same hex with Rommel in Hungary and ARM div from Seville to same hex with Manstein in SE Poland.

I can also play either game if you send instructions. Now I get to bed, I can play tomorrow evening.

Me neither. That northern Spain is causing me nightmares. Soon there will be Yankees too!

I made lots of mistakes in Spain, that is the reason Germany is in current situation. Next time I do it better (or I don't go there at all.) Well, this was first time for me to attack Spain. I have to learn from this.

- Build MAR and PARA to take Gibraltar
- Build lots of Stukas
- Don't let Allies take that many hexes in northern Spain
- Use O-chit and take Tangiers

That simple [;)]

We both made the mistakes as we both went along with what we were trying. A learning experience for both.

Question is, what are we going to do now?

I would say:

Germany try to take northern Spain. I have to get it so that all our units in that area can defend France and Spain from Allies when they attack.

Germany try to keep enough garrison to prevent USSR DoW on Germany.

In M/A Germany attacks USSR if there is fine weather.

How are Japs doing?

I would focus on northern Spain for now. If you cant take it, then surround it with powerful INF class units...use MTN and ARTY there...keep it in supply. Its going to take a lot of units to defend your long coastlines (use MECH div's in areas where the enemy can be blitzed off the beaches).

Mayhemizer wants to attack USSR on the first fine weather turn of M/A42...that's good, but establish your goals for a '42 Barb. I would say a minimum of taking Kiev, the entire western side of the Dnieper. Crimea if you can manage it, but don't make it a priority. In the north try to get to and take Smolensk. Take Leningrad. If you can cut the rail line to Murmansk, that would be great. More than that I doubt you can do unless you get lucky. Do the Germans or Italians have any long range bombers?...to reach out and touch retreating Soviets.

Mayhemizer, don't forget about that PM I sent you concerning the Soviets, I will remind you about it as J/F'42 arrives...your first impulse.

As for Japan, take a look at what the US is positioning in the Pacific. I cant see the map (I would like it if the AAR showed more of all theaters after every turn). If it looks like the US is light in the Pacific, then Japan should go on a naval invasion rampage...best would be focusing on the Indian Ocean and screw with what the Allies are trying to send around the Cape and to Egypt. Of course the outer ring(s) in the Pacific need to be taken. If the US is light in the Atlantic, then that's good news for Germany and Italy.

Conflict with the unexpected: two qualities are indispensable; first, an intellect which, even in the midst of this obscurity, is not without some traces of inner light which lead to the truth; second, the courage to follow this faint light. KvC

US is fairly light in the Pacific. Just Pearl, Midway, Philippines and Pago Pago garrisoned. Only 2 CV's in Pacific and one is the Bearn.

You are targeting the wrong hexes with your ART and Stuka's. You need an awful lot of luck to make succesfull attacks on hexes on the coast, because of the Allied fleet in the Bay of Biscay. To maximize your odds, you need to first take the hex in the mountains which isn't on the coast. And that will not be easy to do too, but it is your only chance to get another hex to put units in before you attack the coastal hexes.

Germany takes combined and sends FW190 and Bf110 to BoB box 2. Naval bombers will intercept when combat begins.

How many submarines can go to BoB box 2? Germany has one in Bordeaux. You can choose where submarines go. If we get enough many to BoB box 2, then go for it and sink all CPs. In other case you can send German sub anywhere you want.

Let's see ground strikes after naval combat.

What do you want to do for ground strikes? With Allied CP's still in Biscay and the rain reducing the Tac factors, I'd leave them for now.
