The Easy Way to Capture Brest and other Fortress Ports

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

The Easy Way to Capture Brest and other Fortress Ports

Post by Chisai »

While moving VIII Corp HQ, it landed next to the fortress garrison Brest hex with 0 movement points. After resolving, the Brest garrison moved out in force against VIII Corp HQ and displaced it. I attacked the Fortified counter, then the garrison, easily capturing the city. Hmmmm... yup, works against all Fortress Ports held by the Germans. Took Lorient, St Nazaire the same way next two turn. Is this a bug or am I a great strategist. Cheers!

The garrison fort units should have 0 MPs. I vaguely remember we had this problem of moving forts years ago and I thought it was fixed. What version of the game are you using?
