Editor Questions

Post by pad152 »

1. Campaign data, what are link bases?

2. Is there any way to make bases malaria free?

3. Is it ok to give the allies Japanese equipment or give the Japanese, allied equipment?

4. Does there need to be a one to one relationship between the number of ships, land units and leaders? Where If you create a new land unit, air group etc you also need to create a new leader for it.

5. Pilots, are there specific slot numbers for allied or Japanese pilots?

1. Support base for going forward. Primes AI...don't mess with these as there are a whole bunch of internal things that make the AI get off their butt and actually attack.

2. No, hardcoded just like the map.

3. Never tried it but it should work, don't really see the point though.

4. No, left at 000, you'll get a random commander assigned.

5. No, they are all over the place :( You need to look at the squadron assigned to tell if it is Allied or Japan.

Would be great if 2by3 published the format so we could suck it into a relational database and work with them all together as nice linked lists. Obviously there are security concerns on their part.

You can, but the following things will happen:
  • Ships will revert to the standard armament of the ship class when disbanded from a TF.
  • Aircraft will return to their normal loadout if transferred to another base.
  • Ground units will revert to the original equipment if moved to another base.
The I once put IJN "Long Lance" torps on my US subs just to see what kind of carnage I could wreak. It was highly amusing...

That sounds like fun. Maybe I'd trade you a few batches of those long lances for a couple of your CLAAs. Those things can murder planes.

Just sub out any 5" AA gun and replace with the USN 5/38cal. DP in pairs. They work wonders

Speaking of CLAA's -- the webmaster of the Combined Fleet website has a game review section. Too old for UV, but he gives high marks to Pacific War, and says he'd 'rather lose Tulagi then a few Atlanta class CLAA's -- their firepower is SO awsome!' :D
The US Navy could probaly win a war without coffee, but would prefer not to try -- Samuel Morison
