"The first pieces of a US-built missile defense system designed to mitigate the threat of North Korean missiles arrived at the Osan Air Base in South Korea Monday night, according to the US military."

A little squeeze action going on ...

I think we should focus on the reaction from China instead of North Korea, because South Korea is now demanding a verdict from WTO for China's economic rebuffs, and even canceling tourisms.

I would not want to predict what China could do militarily, it's too early to say though. The only thing matter for now is how missile deployments affect the future of economy and geopolicy, like the Chinese SAM deployment at artificial islands, and Russian SAM deployments at Crimea and Damascus.

Amazing how the US is made out to be the one making provocative action. They are deploying these weapons on the soil of a sovereign ally who is requesting them and not on fake islands in a disputed sea or an illegally-occupied province. I doubt many airliners will be shot down with them...

What I know is every countries want deterrence, not war. Especially in a day we are heavily rely in the fruition of globalization, and rotting it is definitely not an option.

For US, they have one more thing if hell really breaks loose, but again, I'd rather hope it's an obstacle rather than a catalyst of Korean missile crisis:

Bringing nuclear weapons back to the South is one of a wide range of options the Trump administration is considering. Other options reportedly include preemptive strikes, though it was unclear how seriously such extreme case options are being reviewed.

"All new administrations need to do policy reviews and must look at the full spectrum of possible options. That doesn't mean they all are viable or make sense," Manning said. "Unless you can move Great Seoul and its 28 million people 1000 miles south, there is no preemption option in which the benefit outweighs the risk of war."

The primary reason to place nukes in ROK, as well as station THAAD there, is as a deterrent to NK. China may not like it but they have dragged their feet on the DPRK nuclear issue for years. It's a regional crisis that needs a firm regional solution.

But not the last to laugh in the end.

Only 600KM distance between Pyongyang and Beijing, any nuke above 50KT detonated on top of the despotic fallacy will trigger the regional MAD of an entire Asia.

Unless, the hypothetical SinoRus's Joint BMD is capable and trustworthy to work together, both China and Russia will not have much of tricks if war breaks out.

Interesting bit here is the USMC will be replacing F-18s before AV-8Bs with the F-35Bs. Not sure if those Sqns will then change to the F-35C when they become available or not.

Germany to Procure Northrop Grumman's MQ-4C Triton UAS to Replace Cancelled Euro Hawk
According to Reuters citing ministry sources, Germany's defence ministry has decided to buy Northrop Grumman-built MQ-4C Triton unmanned air systems (UAS) to replace the RQ-4C-based Euro Hawk, which Berlin cancelled in May 2013. Sensors for the new aircraft are to be built by Airbus, as planned under the previous programme, the sources said. The number of planes to be procured has not been disclosed yet but Germany had planned to buy five Euro Hawk aircraft.

Japan Coast Guard Ordered a 3rd Falcon 2000 Maritime Surveillance Aircraft from Dassault Aviation
Image
French aircraft manufacturer Dassault Aviation announced today during its annual results the order of a third Maritime Surveillance FALCON 2000 by the Japanese coast guards.

Dassault Aviation announced in April 2015 that Japan Coast Guard selected the Falcon 2000 Maritime Surveillance Aircraft (MSA) to enhance its operational fleet.

The Falcon 2000 MSA, based on a Falcon 2000 LXS (range 4000 NM), is designed for a broad range of missions including maritime surveillance, piracy control, drug interdiction, fishery patrol, law enforcement, search and rescue, intelligence and reconnaissance. It offers the best combination of size, payload, speed, range and acquisition and operating costs on the market.

For this customer, Dassault is partnering with L-3 Platform Integration and THALES. Japan Coast Guard was formerly operating two Falcon 900 MSA.

Turns out the AV-8B squadrons are not in quite the bad shape they had initially been reported to be in. The USMC is getting 4 x F-35C squadrons as I recall. Likely to support carrier ops as current VMFA squadrons do.

While the F-35 would certainly make it easier to hit targets in Syria, Israel has never had an issue getting into Syrian airspace, even around Damascus.

What standard of credibility is needed before a system like this can be added to the master database?

Smart move, it's a week too late to reconsider the THAAD deployment by other polticians. The impeachment has passed, but also right at the most sensitive hours of Korean missile crisis too:
