Quick question on Game Editor

Distant Worlds is a vast, pausable real-time, 4X space strategy game which models a "living galaxy" with incredible options for replayability and customizability. Experience the full depth and detail of large turn-based strategy games, but with the simplicity and ease of real-time, and on the scale of a massively-multiplayer online game. Now greatly enhanced with the new Universe release, which includes all four previous releases as well as the new Universe expansion!

Quick question on Game Editor

Post by Uncle Lumpy »

So, DW-U is a single player game, why then is the Game Editor pass protected? The actual Game start up isn't. Just a random thought. [:D]
(I'm sure there's some reason for it.)

It isn't actually password-protected. The option is there if you want to use it, but you don't have to enter a password if you don't want to, and as long as you never enter a password after making changes you'll not need to enter a password to make more changes in the future.

As for why it's there, my guess would be that it's partly for succession games and scenario maps, and partly for the same general reason as 'iron man' mode exists in other games.

Thanks, Aeson! IMO it seems superfluous in a single player game.

If you want to make a custom map to share then it would make sense so people couldn't just edit your clever event triggers and placement of systems and such.
