Double bombing of AF

Post by ny59giants »

I just saw my Sallys based at Clark Field bomb Gen Patton's trapped Allied troops at Bataan in both AM and PM phases. I know we can see carrier based planes attack ships in both phases, but why don't we see this 'double bombing' of bases/troops that are relatively close to my AFs?

Because Army pilots are lazy ? To be honest I have no idea - and often wondered this myself. If the target is close enough and fatigue not too high, all pilots should run two missions a day - like they did in real life (if not more). Its rare for naval aircraft to do it and I have never seen land based aircraft do it - except for fighters on CAP - they can scramble against every attack.

Was it same unit or 2 units in same base?

I think its a combination of air HQs, service rating and distance to target. Whenever this happened the distance was really short.

Strange. Never seen that happen in my games. Can you repeat the turn and see if they fly again?

That strange. I always thought that the single-engine support bombers ( Ida, Marys, Sonia etc) could fly twice a day from those improvised airfields carrying the small bombs like Stukas in RL, but Sallys?

It can happen like Countess Zeppelin says, abundant supply, good moral, good sized airbase - Clark Field is big -, short distance to target, good HQ.
