Going AWOL

Post by falco148 »

Hello guys.....I am relocating to China on Thurs (9th March) to take up new job there next week. Obviously this is going to mean I will be out of the loop
getting files returned for a while. Hopefully it wont be too long.....perhaps up to a week. I'm hoping there will no issues playing one of my fav games in a new country.
Sorry for the inconvenience. If anybody has any issues with this I am more than happy to have my turns played by a surrogate player while I'm AWOL.

I am currently playing games 23, 24, 27 plus the Triumph of the Reich scenario.

- falco.

From my own opinion only it would be ok to put these games on hold until you have completed your relocation, good luck I hope it all goes smoothly.
Are we like late Rome, infatuated with past glories, ruled by a complacent, greedy elite, and hopelessly powerless to respond to changing conditions?

Good luck with the new job. Willing to wait until we know if he can continue playing.

Why we don´t allow one of his allies to take his place until he is back? A game placed on hold for too much time is doomed.....

Good luck on the move.

Changing your base so often shows admirable logistic flexibility!

@Falco, I could handle your China in Game 27 and 23, if all agree. I am USA in G23 and USSR in G27.

In G24 I am GR-IT and you are USA, so perhaps not.

@Bombur......I don't intend to be 'back', at least not in the short term. I plan to be there for several years anyway.

@Chuck......more than happy to give u my password if the others involved agree.

As I said in my OP, I want to get back to these games ASAP, I've sort of become a ATG addict lately so hopefully it wont be too long before I can get playing again.

Falco, I wish you the best of luck in your move. How exciting.

In game 27, I would be fine with Chuck doing your turns until you are back, just so we keep momentum up for the game.

If Falco is happy and Chuck is willing then by all means let Chuck play the turns

I could take USA in game 24, but it depend´s on falco´s intentions, since I don´t know if the USA will come in rescue of GBor will choose another path.

In Game 23 I am Italy, a minor ally of Germany and Russia and see no problem with Chuck taking China for Falco. Best of luck with new job, Falco. In Game 24 I am Russia. I could see Bombur taking the US, but it would likely be a big change for the China/Japan alliance, and wonder if they would be ok with it. I support trying to move the game along to its conclusion, however we can best accomplish this.

I game 23 I see no problem with substitute for Falco as USA and China are already real good allies.
Not so in game 24. As the USA is not an ally with anyone yet. And how USA goes makes a big difference to us.
Also not keen on taking on USSR in Game 27.

Finally, I would rather wait to see if Falco can play the game than automatically go to someone else to play his turns.

Agree with you on game 24, my offer was to take USA only if falco declares his intention to rescue the western allies. Otherwise, I think we could find a new player and falco gives him political instructions he must follow.

Hi guys. Reporting in from Yantai in the PRC. Quite cold over here at night at the moment but the afternoons have been quite pleasant. Good news is I have free wifi
provided by the uni where I'm working but the bad news is it seems to be pretty iffy with a strong signal one minute and very weak the next. I may have to buy my own
broadband package. Nevertheless it appears I can still upload and download files from Dropbox without too much difficulty so that's pretty cool.

It's good to know that you can get access to wifi even if iffy. Maybe we can do without substitute players.

I looked up the city on the internet. BIG city with almost 7M people in 2010. Looks like it might get really cold with the Korean Sea (?) right next door to the North.

Thanks Larry. Yes, quite cold here at the moment...was 5 degrees today. But I'm ok with that actually, two days before I left Sydney it was 41 degrees - unbearable.

I just finished playing my Triumph of the Reich turn so that's in the folder now. I'm happy that I can continue my gaming here.....if I couldn't I'd be feeling totally miserable.
