Transport exp. Any effect?

Post by pertsajakilu »

Hi!

Is there any significane of AK and AP exp ratings.

They are quite low. Do anybody know what happens if values go over 50 or 70.
Jap killer transports which sink DDs with their guns. :-)

Does it affect in any way e.g. loading speeds, sub avoidance .....

I've noticed that when a transport sinks a sub it's rating (day or night, depending on when the battle took place) goes up by 30-40 points. It probably has something to do with the relative combat values of the two ships because this is the only time I've seen such a massive increase.

Experience does not affect loading speeds, this is parameter of ship class and port size, not of particular ship, ship with high experience has the same speed as inexperienced ship of the same class, this is technical parameter.

What AP experience really affect is AP’s chance to survive in combat, transports with high experience have more chances to avoid bombs and torpedoes and use its artillery more often and more deadly. So if you’re creating invasion TF, pick up only most experienced transport for this job

I would be very surprised if this was the case. Can you point me to somewhere in the manual or patch notes where it says or gives a hint that this is so? I think experience only increases the accuracy of the transport's guns.

This is my guesstimate, but my experience confirms it, there is nothing in manual and patch notes about that, but I also can’t find anything about increased fuel consumption for subs being attack by aircraft. I was playing another Grigsby game 12 o’clock high for two years and there were tons of undocumented features, although, I can be wrong here, of course.

Interesting, interesting. Yes, I know what you mean about Grigsby's undocumented features. It might be worth doing to set up a test with some freighters with 99 exp and some with 10 exp to see if there is a noticable difference.

I think that this is the effect of transport exp. I asked this question if anybody has any knowledge of this matter.

I think it is wierd is transport has exp. rating and it don¨t affect anything.

I can confirm this as well. ANY higher exp ship will avoid projectiles with much more success. They also fire and hit much more often as well. In my current game, the Pensacola is about 72/98 day/night exp where the Chester is about 86/64. I had them in the same TF, and the Pensy outgunned the Chester by about 2:1 in gunnery, but did poorly the next morning in defense against a nearly equal amount of attacking a/c, getting 2 250kg bomb hits vs. the Chester's none. That's just one example I've noticed.
I give approximately two fifths of a !#$% at any given time!

I've just done a little research and found that transports with 99 exp and those with 10 exp have seemingly equal probabilites of catching a torpedo. Getting torpedoed looks to be good for about 3 exp pts.
