RE: RE:Bug V1.01

Post by James Taylor »

I haven't seen this CTD reported and I've had some success at repeating it, although it is somewhat intermittent.

If you'll take a group of, say 4, transports(USA, Canada units) and move them in cruise to Glasgow and off load you'll get a crash. May not happen on the first unit, but continue to move and off load them and eventually there will be a CtD.

I've had the same thing happen when moving Allied units from Portugal to southern UK ports, but it doesn't happen everytime. Always in cruise mode and off loading in UK ports with a subsequent one hex move of the unit just off loaded.

Sometimes its the first unit, sometimes the second, third or fourth, you never know and sometimes not at all, but the Glasgow disembarkation has happened everytime by the fourth unit.

I have saves and error reports.

Hello James and Patrat
Save games and error reports would be very helpful (as would repro steps and a screenshot if you have one)

Just a quick note on this, that if you do encounter any errors, typically what will happen is a dialog screen will pop up with information on the crash.

Please could you send to hcater@furysoftware.com

Thank you for your help

Hi James,

The transport and unload bug should be fixed for the official v1.01 release update that will be available soon.

This doesn't belong in this thread but I started typing a question and might as well finish it. Regarding HQ Chains, if two HQ's are in the exact same supply situation, but one is closer to enemy units, does the one closer to enemy units get the benefit {it appears this is so]. Also, must HQ's be only two hexes apart, or will the link benefit extend to HQ's located beyond two hexes from the other HQ? I think I am going to do a Linked HQ Tutorial and these are two items that I am not sure of.

Hi
In a pbem game, storm over Europe scenario, v1.04
We are at August 1941, I try to move Soviet Corps already near Rostow to the city, and the city "moves" my corps ending to the east of the city.

There is something weird going on with the hex control. Often units move through hexes, but they don't conquer them, the ownership remains the same as if the unit wouldn't have moved through the hex.
Saw this plenty of times by now.

Still working with 1.01.04. Me Allies vs. Axis computer. I am wondering about this:
- units in 0 supply will have their morale losses doubled from the typical morale loss calculations.
because I have cut off a few Axis units and they seem to go right to 4% Morale. So I watched one and grabbed this split screen shot. Left Side, I moved the Red circled Soviet unit to cut off the Blue circled German unit. The German unit was at 71% Morale at that time. During the computer turn that German unit made an attack, I don't know if that effected its' morale. Right Side of shot is beginning of my next turn, the same Blue circled German unit is now down to 4% Morale.
I am thinking the above change in Italics was made for 1.01.04. If so, maybe it was fixed for 1.02, otherwise the calculation may not be correct, as I have seen this in several different circumstances.

I believe this is still correct as morale is re-calculated after every turn, not just on your turn, so the unit dropped 2X (via re-calculations) before and you had your turn again and there was a strength point loss in there as well which will also accelerate morale loss.

This allows for a much more rapid loss when encircled and cutoff from a supply source and hopefully will help for those situations where players felt that completely cutoff units were still too difficult to destroy.

Ahh, ok, sounds good, but I reserve the right to gripe if my own units evaporate too quickly [;)]

Since I downloaded ver 1.03 I am experiencing the game freezing when I advance to the next turn. Playing as Axis, it is around April - May 1940 when this is happening.

Finished my last game with 1.01.04 and after it ended in Allied Victory, the save option was not available. I like to save the end files as it is convenient to go back and check things out at various times without actually having to play the last turn. I just got v1.02 and loaded up the same save [but had to play the last turn to get it to end] and the save option is still ghosted out. Not a big deal but thought I would report it.

Edit: I just updated to v1.03 with the same results [Save is not available once the game ends].
