RE: The Dutch are the first to Die!
The IJN is leaving Pearl.[:(] There were over 30 fighters flying CAP, and if my two sweeps hadn't gone in first I could have lost quite a few planes. Time to call it a day and move on.
I believe three confirmed battleships sunk: Maryland, Pennsylvania and Colorado. I think Nevada and Arizona are awfully close.
It is just so hard to sink battleships in Pearl...but I gave it a good shot, and hopefully get away. I am going to try and steam for a Lexington/Enterprise attack perhaps.
Palembang invasion tomorrow; that wiley Admiral Obvert (is that Dutch?) sent all his ships fleeing out like rats down thru that narrow island passageway. IJN ships will never manuever in that corridor and I neglected my fast transport landing yesterday that would have taken the base.
I had a shot at the Lex today, 27 Betties with 14 Zero escorts but the weather was horrible. 45 Zeroes escorting 27 Betties sounds better to me and they will make a try today. They are skill 70 at naval bombing...and they will be flying in at 5000. The longer Lex lingers, the better my Iboat snare becomes.

I believe I have sunk 10 of the Allied Destroyers in the SRA so far...and have lost the Tatsuta and one Destroyer to the Lex....drat that ship. We will hunt her to the edge of the world, from hell's dark heart we shall stab at thee until she is no more, just a bad memory.[X(]
Oh, my. Getting a little carried away.

Have you reassigned any experienced pilots to train recruits?
Within OPSEC. What is your long term pilot program?

All my pilots will die in glorious service to the Empire. [:)]
I used to play all the pilot games, when I was severely behind the air curve with Tiemanj. But it is click intensive, and the Tracom program a bit gamey (or so I have been told), so I train them and release them, eventually trying to migrate the best to some elite special purpose units.
I might put a few select favorites into Tracom...we shall see. Haven't thought that far ahead to be honest.
This is PDU off, so simply put, I need masses of medium well trained pilots. Ooodles, and ooodles of them.

I dislike the pilot game as much as, if not more so, than anyone else, but it's a requirement for any sort of high-level play.
I think with PDU off it's even more important than otherwise - you need to nurse those high EXP/high DEF pilots to turn those marginal air-frames that you're stuck with for most of the war (Oscar, Tojo, Zero) into something that is of some use to you tactically. Otherwise it's just free EXP for the Allies.
I've learned to be very, very fluid with pilots, as it's easier to move pilots around than air groups. I routinely cull my dedicated CAP squadrons for 65+ EXP pilots for offensive squadrons.
EXP seems to be the most significant stat for pilots. The various skills can be built up very easily over time, but building EXP is hard. It's going to be a major part of my pilot training programs in future.

Lady Lex moves one hex outside of strike range from Saipan, and two hexes from Truk. But, there is an Iboat screen forming up, and of course the KB is now away from Pearl with a huge oiler support group. There is a chance, but I need to get a sighting tomorrow. Even if only a higher than expected DL on an Iboat, or better yet a downed Glen.

Ashore at Palembang with no ships damaged. A few troops lost while unloading, but I came with overwhelming force.
Didn't even hit a mine.
Now, the dice roll on how damaged Palembang becomes?

RE: The Dutch are the first to Die!
Elsewhere, I tried to sneak a few very small xakl into Umboi and along New Guinea coastline but PBY and divebombers got them. No great loss, and in fact I like to see them flying so I can hopefully nail them.
Chinese bomb Ankang...trying to close the runway.
1-1 attack at Hong Kong. More troops unloaded at Mersing, and Kuantan without loss.
Scout and Thanet range from Manila and sink a PC. Nells make a torpedo run on them and miss.
Yesterday, the first point of oil was repaired at Miri...am going to take pains to get it repaired very quickly. Also, an AD hit by treetop skimming B17s (3 of them) planted several bombs on her yesterday at Taytay, today she goes under.
