new to SCWWII - a few basic questions...

Fury Games has now signed with Matrix Games, and we are working together on the next Strategic Command. Will use the Slitherine PBEM++ server for asynchronous multi-player.

new to SCWWII - a few basic questions...

Post by GreyWolf16 »

Just starting through the tutorial and the game looks great so far.

1 - Curious to know how some brigades can be more powerful than divisions and some divisions can be more powerful then armies.
2 - Are there any actual casualty statistics or is that all abstracted?
3 - When I'm looking at a battleship does that really represent a single ship or a number of ships?
4 - Is there any way to slow down the action sequence during the enemy turn?

Much thanks.

1. Gunga I do not think they're brigade level units in the game. Though if you mean say Garrison/Corp/Army..They're abstract for say Division * couple divisions * an entire army group maybe. Why would say 1 Division kick the butt of an entire Corp say which includes 4 or 5 divisions. Say Machine Guns, Mortars, Artillery and more. That is represented in technology. They you have doctrine, which is how it operates which is also through technology. Finally you have leadership which gives a bonus. There are also in game bonuses through events, surrenders, etc... Regardless I rarely see an Army collapse to say a Garrison unit. You can check the stats on properties by right clicking on the unit. Also underneath see the values like supply/readiness/morale. An Army might collapse if it's got no water supply?

2. There are abstract statistics but I don't really understand the question. If you mean how many tanks in a unit or vehicles that's all abstract. A Corp may be 40,000 men or 20,000...no way of knowing that.

3. A Battleship/Carrier/etc.. should represents a bunch of ships. Screens, Escorts, etc... Although when the Bismark went out to see to raid it did so under it's own banner(Prinz Eugen was an escort but as much out there to raid and I do not recall hearing of any screens or other ships in tow) so this is probably situational. For instance Subs have to have refueling subs to get back to base or to operate after a point but they slow down on low supply. Become combat ineffective. Things like minelayers I assume to be abstract. Though there are torpedo boats in the game.

4. There is quick animation button, somewhere when you're ready to load up, click it and your action should slow down.

If by statistics you mean losses, you can see how you are doing by clicking on the left tab at the top middle of the screen called maps.
it also lists casualties of men and equipment for each country.
