New Scenario for Testing - Baltic Ballet 2019

Post by kevinkins »

2017 was a rocky year for Vladimar Putin. His prized naval base in Syria withered due to reduced oil and gas revenue. Russians had to withstand a series of terrorist strikes in Syria and the Republic of Georgia. Barely winning re-election in 2018, Putin needed a WIN somewhere. During 2017, NATO steadily reinforced ground troops along the border with Russia. Kaliningrad conducted readiness exercises in the Fall of 2018. In response, the Baltic states partially mobilized. To the world's surprise, a new organization called the Gotland Independence Front appeared on the internet, New Year's Day 2019. Their wed page boasted that the movement formed because of Sweden's unwillingness to exploit energy deposits just off their shore to the benefit the Islanders. On February 12, the Gotland Independence Front claimed to have seized control of these resources and formed separate government. On February 13, all communication to the island was cut at midnight and the entire island went dark. In the morning, SAPO's Director General Anders Thornberg told reporters that a person had been arrested "in absentia" for plotting attacks on the Olso international airport. But he cautioned that these plans weren't related to ongoing events in Gotland. A spokesman for the military declined to give more details. Olso held a crisis meeting and decided it was prudent to step up air and sea patrols around Gotland to feel out the situation.

Is the Gotland Independence Front for real?

I think the problem happens every time someone makes an attachment for some reason. I just delete the attachment from the original and re-post it, and it works.

Great ... pay particular attention to the in game messages and let me know if they are perfectly understandable.

Barely started so the only potential issue (not even that important) I see is some spelling errors. In the scenario description, Oslo is misspelled "Olso" (assuming you're talking about the capital of Norway). And in the briefing, Norwegian is misspelled Norwedian. I don't know if Scandinavian languages spell the city and country like that, so if it is intentional, I apologize.

Spelling is not a chemist's strongest talent ... we like stick figures.

Seriously, thanks for playing and I look forward your test results results. I made the corrections already.

Best Regards,

Kevin

The editor needs an embedded spell checker

You're not wrong [;)]. Easy work around though is to draft your briefings in Word or some program that has a spellcheck - they're much easier to work in anyway. Then just cut & paste. A nice side effect of this method is you have all your in game messages in the same document and can quite easily track how your story is progressing and even add trigger notes etc.

I do that and still misspell. [&:] A spell checker never met a dyslexic it could help 100% of the time. Especially after a few glasses on fine wine. [:-]

Maybe, given the nature of Baltic Ballet, a Swedish libation like Svedka vodka was in order. With one, just one, ice cube.

I must admit, I cheated a bit near the end by calling in a Norwegian P-3 Orion using the editor, simply because I had run out of ASW assets by that point. I lost a lot of fighters, because I forgot that I had two AWACS planes on call so I sent them in blind. How amateur of me. Speaking of Norway, I didn't know there was another base there available to use. I'd better try the scenario again.

All in all, 'twas a fun little action-packed scenario, that ran well on my PC at high FPS.

I missed your fine AAR report. Thank you. Do you remember the final score/victory level? I may want to adjust the points per level.

Kevin

PS It looks like Gotland Island remained in Swedish hands.
