There are two Christmas Islands in the game ...
It IS an atoll TYPE. It IS a Very Large size.

One atoll, Pacific. One very large, Indian Ocean.

Per the manual, Appendix B, this is not correct.

Page 291. Christmas Island, US Navy, 174,141, SIZE = Very Large, Terrain = Atoll

Page 292, Christmas Island IO, Australian, 45, 104, SIZE= Medium, Terrain = Jungle

App. B is useful for finding island data for planning landings. There are a couple of odd ducks in the Atoll family. Another is Anaa Island. French, 178, 179, Medium, Atoll.

But Christmas also says "Atoll" on the map.

It IS an atoll TYPE. It IS a Very Large size. I've never looked at the map that closely. I use Appendix B. in the manual.

The code, as reported by the dev who looked at it in the thread I posted (BigJ62, Post #4), is an OR statement. Specifically he said "oops my mistake just looked at code again and it is looking for atoll or sz 1 or sz 2 so your above example would trigger a shock attack."

A patch notes search on "shock" and "shock attack" doesn't show any modifications to this.
My recent PBM confirmed it for me. No atoll but size 1 or size 2 still triggers a shock attack.

Well alright then. I've clearly just never had it come up. How many islands size 1 or 2 are there? About 5? [:'(]

S'alright. In ten years I have never attacked, defended, seen, or run into Anaa Island. French vacation spot, kept secret from Anglo-Saxons apparently.

I should have specified: size 1 or 2 that aren't also atolls?

Maybe the Bonins and that's it?

Nope. Look in App. B. Just in the first part of the 'A's I found three. There are lots.

Yes, lots. And appendix B does not list all the bases added in many mods, for example Babes (though not sure how many added bases are islands).

Maybe literally lots (as in they exist on the map). But functionally lots (as in people are going to go there in a game)?

I always figured Abemama was an atoll anyway, and the same with Aogashima. Abemama is an obvious one, and Aogashima is a possibility.

I guess there's Batan Island.

So OK, there are several - I just always thought they were atolls also. Shows how much I know.

Aogashima

I've seen photo's of this place, its truly incredibly beautiful. Hardly a place for a base though. Essentially a rock jutting up from the sea. Wish I could remember where I found them.

Edit: Thanks for the correction Moose.[;)]
