First, a big thank to all the community for the patience regarding the long development time for The Operational Art of War IV. Despite some bumps along the way, the TOAW Development Team is working very hard to deliver the great wargame everyone is awaiting.

Today, we are very proud to announce that this project is in its final stages!

Check out its official product page for more information!

Well, this is good news indeed! I've been pretty pessimistic about this Title lately, and I certainly hope Matrix will prove me wrong....I WANT to be wrong since this has always had such great potential.

I'll temper this with a word of caution (to myself) though. We've been here before (at/near the top of the Coming Soon queue) about a year ago and that proved to be premature. I hope for a better outcome this time.

Since we've again made this far, maybe now Matrix will allow some screenshots and a fuller description of some of the new features? I think Larry Fulkerson should be the official spokesman. He's never lost any enthusiasm and has tried again and again to keep everyone informed as best he could. Give Larry some recognition I say.

Well in a few days we moved from

"There is constant progress, but "only" at the pace that's possible. While Ralph is working on ironing out bugs, Bob enhances the game. One small step at a time, but moving forward."

to the today's announcement with still no screenshots.... [:o]

My personal advise: let's remain pessimistic [:D]

Oh I agree. That is a sudden change in official attitude isn't it?

We can only be hopeful but with a healthy amount of skepticism. It's really the old "Fool me once, fool me twice" sort of thing I guess.

I'll just sit back and wait now to see if we go weeks and months without anything new being revealed. I hope not.

One thing's for sure: if this gets moved back down once again, or if no attempt is made to be more communicative, some people will probably give up on TOAW IV all together.

Awaiting screen shots of the user interface.

Awaiting to see if the fonts have been brought up to 21st century standard. :)

I have the third installment, will the new version keep the turn system mechanics or simplyfy them? It was a stumbling block for me and even though I'm used to it now I'm not too fond of it.

Battlefield Timestamps change the round mechanics somewhat.

I'm jussst misssssing TOAoW IV.

Fortunately, I still have -for their numerous very Good Old scenarii- two versions of TOAoW on my PC:

TOAoW III v.3,2,29,27 & TOAoW III v.3,4,0,202.

Waiting several months more for v.IV's release would certainly be over my own strengths!

[Doesn't matter: it's a joke] [;)]

[&o] Congratulations to the whole Team & Community for that impressive big Work which had undoubtly be done...

Let me say that although the actual rounds per turn system is still there (and I think that is the best compromise) the new user interface makes it MUCH easier to see where you are at in the turn, as well as giving a running tab on how the combats are doing. Much simpler than the "ring of stars".
My game play is much improved with the new interface.
