Crash on research screen (PBEM)

It has happened several times that the game freezes when I call the research screen .
The screen looks like that :


The mouse moves but I can neither close the window nor click on any research item (and of course not on any othrr button) .
When this happens, the only way is to kill the application through the Task Manager .

I haven't had this happen, but sometimes the Research box flickers when my mouse moves over the categories. Did you get an Error Log generated when yours froze up ?

No error message and see no file called Error Log in the SC directory .

Well, I would think it would be in the main C: directory somewhere, but I found it here [below]. However, I am playing user campaigns so if you are playing the stock campaign, the Error Log might be elsewhere. Here is what the location looks like on my W7 machine:

OK, found the errorlog in C: even if my game is in I: . No mention about this crash .
Only a bunch of "failed to blit surface" but this is another old story .

Ok, thanks for finding it, at least now we know that the error log can be of no assistance in this matter [:(]

Have you tried hitting the ESC key? Works for me when the research screen freezes.

Honestly I don't remember . I think yes because I tried to hit esc, alt tab etc but not sure . Will be sure to do next time .
