RE: Reinstalling error

In fact I didn't apply the latest update this time (i reinstalled 3 times and forgot the patch this time)...
I probably should have.
So I'm currently downloading the latest patch from matrix server (using update.exe) and will install it.
Sorry. Will see if this is the cause but previous times apllying the patch didn't change. Will confirm in 5 minutes.
That's OK and sure go ahead and do that, but lack of the patch does NOT explain the missing files, so have a look at my questions. Others here might have better questions too.

Can you actually "attach" the file to your post instead of just pasting it in? The forum removes extra spaces and that makes the columns go away and it's harder to see things.

Even so, it is obvious that some files are missing, and that brings up the question "why?".

Were there any errors during the installation? Where did you get the media or file that you are using to install from? Are you the only user on that PC? During the installation, did Windows prompt you with the security question to allow that program to modify your system? Did you answer "yes"? Or do you not have administrator rights (somebody else's PC, a work PC, etc.)? Any additional information you can provide that might help us figure out things?

- No error during install,. Everything went smoothly
- the original file is a backup stored on an external USB HD
- I answered yes to autorization to modify
- I do have admin rights

Additional info: the first install I tried was not on my C drive (where the OS. I installed on a secondary partition (I:\)of the main HD wher ei usually store my data (docs, pics, ...).

Other info, as i said somewhere above, when I try to uninstall the game using the standard w\indows procedure (control pannel>uninstall a program", WITP is not listed. Couldn't find WiTP in REGDIT neither

One more info:
- the original file is a backup stored on an external USB HD

But I also tried to copy the original file to C: and then install on C: with the same result.

I just checked my (Windows 7) PC, and it is shown as installed in Control Panel, so you have identified a problem. But what is causing it? Perhaps the installer file you are using is bad in some way. That could explain the missing files, too.

Well, as I said the install finished OK with the "you successfully installed WITP" message.
So i suppose that if the "WarinthePacificAdmiralsEdition-SetupRelease-v10079DR" file had a problem I couldn't be able to finish he install. But who knows ...

You are missing a lot of files, so something is wrong. I would try removing all traces of WitP:AE and try again from scratch.
You might have to go into the registry and delete all of the references there, or run a registry cleaner program after you delete all the files.

CCleaner is the one I have used in the past. You will probably have to run it multiple times to get everything right.

ah ! But I don't have an uninstall process so i have to delete directly the folder ... But the registry will remain. So I guess i have to delete them manually, The problem: I don't know whee to find them with regedit.
But if you think that CCleaner will work even if I don't use the standard 'uninstall' procedure ?
Anyway, will give it a try... but appreciate your insight.

Run a Windows Defender FULL scan on your PC. It should take quite a while. Do not do a quick scan.

I have AVG and Zonealarm so I'm quite sure I don't have a virus ...
it's a registry problem, I'm quite sure of it

How would a Registry problem prevent only *some* of the files from being copied in?

You guys are geniuses and very nice of you to spend time and energy helping ! Greatly appreciated.
No idea why my first file was corrupt. Probably an error when copying onto my external HD.
