Warring Suns manual: online or hardcopy?

Post by Phasma Felis »

Anyone know if there will be a paper manual available for TOS:WS? I'm just getting into TOS, and I'm being reminded how much I despise reading long, complex manuals online.

Sharing young Phasma's fear of online manuals I feel his pain. But as producing a book like WS would require (I'm thinking Tom Clancy sized ;)) is probably cost prohibitive. So, like me Phas, you may have to start warming up your printer.

If I remember correctly there will be a booklet too. But don't nail me on this.

You may be right, though I hope not. :) It wouldn't be that large, though, would it? There's a total of 134KB of HTML files in the docs directory of TOS--seems like a medium-size game manual to me.

Anyway, if we don't get a printed manual, I hope we at least get a nicely formatted, printable PDF.

The manual looks great, thanks to Marc. IIRC, it has something like 45~50 pages. I assume there'll be a printed version and the corresponding PDF in the CD.

Last info I was told was there may or may not be a printed manual. If not now then maybe in the future if the game does well. I haven't seen the final final copy of the pdf manual. I have seen the pdf manuals for other games and one final pdf for TOSWS. It will be good.

Yeah -- if you ask me, provide a detailed PDF manual that's not too graphics-saturated, and make a hardcopy with pretty pictures available seperately for those who feel it's worth buying.

There will be the full manual printed in the box, black and white. Then there will be a a full manual as PDF and colored on the CD. And adding to this you will be able to purchase the manual via our Kinkos Doc Center in various bindings and colored.

I was browsing the Korsun Pocket forum and in the Soon? thread there was mention that the kinko's manual will actually be available sooner than the game will. Is that true about the Titans of Steel Warring Suns doc?

Oh yeah, between waiting for TOSWS and KP to start shipping I'm just about fit to throw a temper tantrum (or something equally irrational and unconstructive along those lines).

I might order the manuals if I like the look of the doc on the CD, but the last thing I need right now is a manual without a game to go along with it. I'd just as soon flog myself with a... um... whatever that thing's called that people flog themselves with.

I just hope they don't ship within a couple of weeks of one another. I'm going to need time to get one out of my system to make some room for the other.

July will be the month my girlfriend sits me down for a "serious talk" about my priorities. Yep, no doubt. :D
