Save game slot 1

Post by tomamars »

I have a major problem here. Just started a PBEM as IJ, exchanged savegames with Allied player, watched replay and started working on my turn 1. Since there was a ton to do and since I also had a second game going and since I forgot to save Sav01 on some other foder, it got replaced.
Is there a way to recreate Sav01 through my regular save game or some other way?
Any help would be much appreciated since I put ton of time on this first turn and I don't want to do I again if I don't need to...

Outside of AE, you can just rename those save game files any way you like. AE will only recognize them if they are the very specific format it uses, but you can change numbers and it will recognize the save as being in the "new slot" if that is what you are looking for.

Problem we have here is Allied player can't have his combat replay of Turn 1 because I overwrote it with Sav01 of another PBEM. Allied player needs both Sav01 and Savxx to play, right? Well I don't know how to get my hands on that particular Sav01. Is there a way to obtained it from inside the game or is it lost now?

I believe slot 1 is used by the program to store the turn before executing. I would suggest you use some other number slot. You may have to start over.

Don't ever use slot 1, as Bill says it's used for the combat replay.

No matter what your opponent calls a particular save, you can name it for any slot you want when you save it from email (or however you are receiving it).

And yes, you can re-generate the wpae001.pws file for him by simply reloading the turn that he sent you. You don't even need to watch it - just wait for the game to finish with its "Saving combat replay" message, and then you can close the game and send your opponent the new wpae001.pws file.

Obviously, back up your other wpae001.pws file first in some other slot by changing the number to something other than 001.

Besides what everyone else said, a very easy way is keep a month worth of e-mails and pick the email that was sent last to you and re download. And you have your sent files also if needed for future files missing

Save 1 is used for the replay, 2 is the pre turn save so 3 is the first available user slot.
