I am very busy at the moment and I have less time to do scenarios so I corsed the difficulty, so that you hold until the next ...[:D]
And then historically the success of the objective without the means allocated initially is a real feat![&o]

Despite a shameful initial deployment(*), the Paras managed to enter the battery perimeter, and at the end of turn 4 they took 2 VP Hexes. Another squad was adjacent to the last VP hex.

I expected Major Otway to take the third one after winning his third CC (with 2 squad vs. a single German leader), after having previously killed two HMG in CC and the Flak crew by fire.
I already thought I got an easy victory with minimal casualties (2 half-squads) thanks to the sophisticated fire and movement tactics I adopted (also known as "Banzai charge" or "Balaklava charge"[:D]).

Then - for the first time since I play ToTH - the game crashed in the CC Segment!!! [:@][:@][:@]

(*) I thought the night visibility (1 hex) was in force (the action at Merville started around 0300 AM and ended at 0500 AM). My scouting (read: suicide) squad was caught in open by a German HMG and I discovered the hard way visibility was 6 hexes :(

A second play with the British ended on turn 4 with all the VP hexes taken and no visible German defenders remaining.

I played another game with the Germans: it ended in a German Major Victory, even though my losses approached 100%. I only became aware of the MMG (highlighted in yellow) near the south edge of the map on turn #5 [8|], otherwise I would have been able to set up a nice crossfire. The British could have taken the north-west VP hex, but for some reason the AI didn't (besides the squad shown in the screenshot, there is a big stack that didn't advance in the VP hex [&:]).

Just managed to get a Minor Victory (exited all the US leaders but killed only one of the German ones). It should be easier playing the Germans (after all, they set up between the Americans and the exit hex).

A little, nasty, tough, Rico-style[:D] masterpiece [&o].

Just finished playing with the Germans; the scenario is actually far easier to play: the Americans must come to you, and you will enjoy some long-range firing with no response [:D].

I set up three stacks near (one move away) the exit hexes, with the MMG and the 1st Line squads covering the north area.

The Americans - as expected [:D] - came in open terrain and suffered accordingly, losing three leaders.

I thought I had a Major coming, but the [CENSORED] B* went OOC both in turn #5 and in turn #6 [:@] [:@] [:@], so I ended up with 5 VP hexes only [:(].

Back in the early '80s, a friend of mine (then a young lieutenant in the Italian Army) was supposed to stop invading Russian/Hungarian tanks with a 106mm RR mounted on a jeep [:D]

I'm all too happy Peter has not included T-62s (Russian) and T-55s (Hungarian) in ToTH.

I know you would been all too happy to have us trying stopping them with this:

By the way, I tried using these in Steel Panthers III: they never survived more than a couple turns.
