Will editor changes be overtaken in a running game?

Post by Alpha77 »

I was working on a own scen (with some more bottlenecks too) based on the recent AI and "make stuff more worthwhile and scarce" threads in the main forum

....also added some fun plane designs (mostly upgrades to exiting models, so all NOT fantasy but possible in the real WW2)

While working in the editor I also checked unit values (eg. tanks) and some were quite "strange", eg. US tanks seem to be overrated and some 43/44 squads too. Also tank destroyers had too high armor as well too high soft attack...37at + 2 pdr guns too high pen/at etc. An 20cm coast gun, some 30km range or so (?)

For testing purposes can I run an H2H games, make edits and see these changes in the running game ? Eg. I save to scen27 (based on updated scen2 with my changes) start start scen 27, make edits to scen, will they show up in the running game [&:] Or do I need to restart every time to see the edits ? THANKS[&o]

Some will. You'll need to google search the site. The devs have commented in several discussions about this, you need to read for yourself as it is complicated, but known to a high degree.

Thanks need to try....BTW 2 other questions: Can VPs for ships be changed or are they calculated ? I did not see a field to enter (perhaps blind)

When I delete some smaller ships (eg. sub chasers or AK/AKLs) will this impact AI fleet creation or tactics ?
I noted air units can be deleted without much issue (but only also some few smaller ones with old and not produced planes will go)

From the manual:

Ships Sunk - The VPs for sinking a ship is based on the durability and capacity of the ship:
»» For CV and CVL ships, add 3 times the A/C capacity to the durability.
»» For CVE ships, add 2 times the A/C capacity to the durability.
»» For CS ships, add the A/C capacity to the durability.
For all ships, additional value is calculated based on the troop, cargo, and liquid carrying
capacity of the ship. A big transport or tanker are very valuable.
If a ship is scuttled, it will score 10% less than its standard VP’s.
Ships that are destroyed while under construction will score one half of the standard VPs.
Ships that are lost to marine casualties and other non-combat action (grounding, collision, etc)
score 75% of the standard VP
The minimum Victory Point value of any ship is 1.

LST thanks, is this from the editor manual (never read it I only started editing a week ago) ? I also never cared for VP points, but I wanted small (but special) ships have more "value" and the VP seems the only value to make that happen. But I can not edit it, so this idea can be scrapped.
