Mogami/DadMan, Scenario 19 (Again, With Feeling)
Disaster
Hi, No it looks worse then it was. The real disaster just occured, but I'll let Dadman crow about it first. (It happened in last game as well and I recovered from it) Unless an allied ship sinks before it gets to Noumea it lives. (after a trip to up grade AA)
In scenario 19 with 200 percent Japanese the USN is going to have to endure a period of disaster piled on disaster. The trick is to not surrender and hold on to bases you can not recapture.
Luganville and Efate do not fall into this catogory since they can be retaken. (It is very difficult for the Japanese to pile enough troops on them and be able to maintain supply. Allied heavy bombers on Noumea will always be able to keep hurting the supply stockpiles. Japanese transports unloading will suffer damage and loss.

In our first game, I managed to sink 5 of his first 6 CV's and he STILL managed to pummell me by June of 43... (actually March, but who's counting...)

AnyWAY, as Mogami said, the AAR is behind the game (2 weeks) so as to not give away current ops.
He's not revealing anything that he knows I haven't already seen.Originally posted by Mike_B20

**OH man. We've engaged now, I'm going to have to go for it...
My planes attacked at extended range, so the strikes were small, and the loadouts were light (no torps on the Kates - I hate that). Apparently, he was transferring his CV's back to Noumea from Brisbane, and I've caught them. Now I have to sink them.
One question: Why no CAP? I can only infer that he had not spotted me, and did not expect to receive an attack. The damage should be just enough to slow him down.
The main battle should be joined tomorrow and the following day.

Well Magoo you've done it again. 2 CV have to go back to PH (for R&R and AA upgrade)
I've put myself in a pickle. Outnumbered with 2 damaged CV do I leave em and run with the
2 healthy? No one would do that. Turn into the wind. No more unanswered strikes. I'd like
1-1 exchange at least. Clear the runways (good thing I built those emergancy airfields)
(I have the insane idea I should transfer all the airgroups ashore and run. When the enemy
comes down after my empty carriers I'd whack him from Kourmac. However I'm afraid the weather
would ground my LBA while he sank my CV so I am left with turning to fight. I'd split the TF
up and run if I was only interested in points. But caught fair and square I feel I own the enemy
an honest fight. The weather could still help me out (and monkeys might fly out my butt)
Steak and Eggs for aircrew. Clear the flight deck.

Crap crap crap. I could have retreated away. Hit a bunch of stupid surface ships. The weather had the Jap

Why Why Why do I always take the rough road? I'm certain to get pounded now. My goodness
count thoses bastards. I'd never try to fight that many CV with just 4.

**Yorktown (3 bombs/6 torpedoes), Enterprise (16/3), and Hornet (5/6) sunk. Lexington was hit hard too (10/5), probably will sink tomorrow. I feel sorry for the USN Commander. His men fought bravely. I was very happy to catch the CV's in the open sea. Hitting ships in port is a more problematic venture.
**CV Soryu, CV Zuikaku, CVL Zuiho, and CVL Ryujo have all taken substantial damage, and may need to retire for repairs.
**I will continue to pursue cripples for one more day, but I worry that I'm making a mistake.

**Brisbane gets shelled by 3 BB's tomorrow as per schedule.

Waiting for the Jap CV to reform and come out again. Expect they will return to Noumea-Brisbane lane or move to take up where they left off north of Townsville.

He's far from toast, and about to prove that all a good USN player needs is to simply bring his own marmalade.Originally posted by Mike_B20
Gotta hand it to you Mog...everything that could go wrong did go wrong and you still see options for the allies.
At least you damaged some CV's.
By the time they're ready to sail again you could be in a better position to handle them more roughly.![]()
I think he actually likes to get his CV's sunk early, and get that out of the way...
