Did he send his troops to Adak in beach wear? Towels, beachballs, swimsuits etc. straight outta Tahiti, attacking Emperor's finest with baseball bats? [:D]
Burma looks solid. Do you plan to cross directly into Pegu, or NE from it, then advance along the road?
Nice to see effective Jap AA flak downing some beasties.

Pegu...it depends what recon shows this turn. I am flexible.

The AA only downed the plane after substantial damage from overwork, fighters, and weather -- so it was a definite team effort.

The invasion troops reloading at Adak is quite the surprise...right now I am leaning for a long range strike at those transports as they offload the troops. Have to be careful as Shokaku and Zuikaku only have 38 total fighters. I will save that decision for last.

I have hit Rabaul pretty hard...invasion fleet on the way.

I think the first of my AKE's finished converting today...they are needed very badly.

Plane losses...the Dutch sent a wave of 3 bombers over Miri losing 2 so I was correct about the additional attacks there.

Flak over Singers is tough! Even at 20,000 feet.

ABDA concentrates their forces with the Lady Lex and Hermes most likely, but I don't have torpedoes yet at Balikpapen. I do have them at Palembang. 81 top of the line IJ fighters at Balikpapen.

Steady progress in Burma...should cross the river east of Pegu this next day (at 44 miles). Only one unit north of Moulmein. Pegu recon didn't fly...and only 4 units in Rangoon.

If you don't fear any Allied CVs around Rabaul, place all your Kates from KB on ASW patrol. I had that done to me off Diamond Harbor and after a few sinkings and more damaged, I pulled out my subs.

I just did that...

the afternoon only...they don't really have the numbers or ASW skills yet.

That's 3 subs probably hit with 250kg'ers. That's gotta hurt, if not making them bottom feeders outright!
Nice for just 1 turn.
But when the blast of war blows in our ears,
Then imitate the action of the tiger;
Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood,
Disguise fair nature with hard-favour'd rage.

The Allies like their low bombing and recently they dabbled in strafing, and while I need to use better AA units to protect industry, these 20mm machine cannons are great for the front lines, and for islands. Very inexpensive in PP, very mobile as the guns can be air transported.

I got some into Ankang and they really chewed up the Chinese low altitude bombers.

Sadly, I don't have a lot of these guys yet and my PP need to be spent on other units. I purchased a regiment the 74th, elements of the 30th Inf Division. They are junk troops really, low experience, but they should work well for the Aleutian campaign.

This is about as non-typical early PP expenditure for Japan as you can get.

I also rolled over Paramushiro to General Defense HQ to enable it to have General Defense restricted units flown in and for restricted Mavis's to fly out of.

Image

Notice the convoluted path the TF has plotted for the approach. There must be subs, or perhaps a single ship task force in the area. Or perhaps floatplanes from Attu or the other dot base.

Nice for just 1 turn.

I had a hit or two during the morning too, but there is a lot of fog of war in these reports. I doubt anything is sunk, but they are certainly spotted, and for now that is enough.

Kujira Class...

I have quite a few of these beauties. In Oct of 43 they can convert to PB.

For now, they look to make for nice long legged pickets as well as the normal mine sweepers. They are very busy in the SRA, but I am making sure there are some all over the perimeter of the Empire.

This is the unit that beat off the attack at Adak a day or so ago.

Illustrates the deleterious impact of winter weather, and very low prep. They were bombed by the Enterprise's planes, and bombarded by a light cruiser task force and still managed to muster a few points of assault value.
