Its noticeable that any league he manages in becomes a grubbier nastier place while he is there.
I don't follow much the Italian league so I can't comment on that, but the Spanish and the Portuguese leagues are the same nastier places with or without him.
He's not the only one who uses the press for his mind games.
Honestly, we should also blame the press as they are always looking and fomenting these kind of conflicts.

You won't accept that Mourinho is a great manager. Therefore your argument is that there was nothing special about Porto winning the Champions League -

I could not care less about managers. I'm only interested about the players. Parking the bus with very expensive toys is not what I call great coaching, correct. But I understand some (or many people) would sell their grandma to get a trophy. Machiavelli did not write lunacies after all.

And you can't help it: you cannot accept that Porto had a right to win the CL. And that year, it could have been them or Monaco or Deportivo. Because of the coaches? Nah. Because they had excellent players.

And I reserve hatred for serious stuff. There are two Mourinhos. The professional: laughable because of his cheap tactics. And the human: I despise him (as opposed to hatred). Do I really need to enumerate the long list that every single person knows? Really? Well, Vilanova, Eva make I guess the 1% of the offenses [:D]

The main difference between you and me is that you are obsessed with managers, you think they are everything. And I am convinced they are basically secondary (I like Guardiola because he delivers what I like to see, but I could not care less about his failures or achievements, not for a second). Fine. Perhaps it's because as a Spurs (and/or England) fan your only perceived chance of success is to somehow pull a miraculous Ranieri. I mean, you cannot attract the great talent that REALLY wins the trophies (aka players). But the wealth that buys you these things is lacking. So sticking to Plan B is a logical step. Good luck with that.

And it is perfectly clear that you are an Allardyce type of person: it won't be pretty but... [:D] Nothing wrong with that.

Except that not everyone is as desperate. I like Machiavelli, but just give me good attractive football.

The one thing that I like about Mourinho is this: I love football scandals and the guy never fails to deliver. So for the comedy value, I wish him well. Long may it continue.

After consulting with the supporters club members, we can offer a part-time contract at £150 per week, a loyalty bonus at £30 a week, a promotion bonus of £750, free parking space, swivel chair, and a LARGE trophy cabinet. We can throw in an electric heater for his office as well although this will be probably be second-hand.

Best wishes,
Steve

Would that be a LEATHER swivel chair?

And a king-size ego massager. [:D]

For swivel Chairs we were thinking more along the lines of something cloth-based from Ikea. As for king-Sized ego massager, it is possible to find the number of old Meg in any public phone box in Braintree. So we have that one covered.

Best wishes,

Once again I have absolutely no idea what you are babbling on about half the time.

The right? you said the right? Maybe its a language thing [&:]
Because of the coaches? Nah. Because they had excellent players.

Yep, that I understand. I understand that you don't understand how football works.

More of the same
The main difference between you and me is that you are obsessed with managers, you think they are everything.

Obsessed? Bizarre [&:] There is no middle ground with you is there?
(I like Guardiola because he delivers what I like to see, but I could not care less about his failures or achievements, not for a second).

Again a change of tune. You did care about Guardiola when his record suited your purpose. Now he has moved away from Barca his ability, (his record is still impressive mind you) compared to Jose is not so straightforward to assess.
Perhaps it's because as a Spurs (and/or England) fan your only perceived chance of success is to somehow pull a miraculous Ranieri. I mean, you cannot attract the great talent that REALLY wins the trophies (aka players).

Again you make little sense with your inconsistent and contradictory ramblings. Why would we need a miraculous Ranieri? Managers don't matter do they??? [8|]

And yet again. Tottenham are one of those great historical clubs. The fact we've won damn all and have to sell our world class players to the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid proves my point PERFECTLY. Football is moving fast, and once top clubs are finding themselves sidelined. Hopefully Spurs still have a chance with the new stadium but its far from certain. Anyway, thanks for making my point for me. No team has the right to anything. The problem comes when certain faceless Chairmen, supported by the pigs in the trough people at FIFA or UEFA think they do.
And it is perfectly clear that you are an Allardyce type of person: it won't be pretty but... [:D] Nothing wrong with that.

And it is perfectly clear you don't understand anything I've said and even less about football.

Are Spurs still Spursey?

A lot of comment has been made that Spurs have learnt from last year, they are more focussed, more experienced etc. So here is the (almost) ultimate test of that question coming up.

On Sunday we play Arsenal in the big North London derby. Tottenham are at home. They have the added incentive to win (as if they need any more) because:

- this may be the last such derby at White Hart Lane - you don't want to sign off with a loss to Arsenal - Arsenal didn't lose their last derby at Highbury
- they have the chance to go unbeaten at home this season (if they don't lose either of their last two home games) - I don't know the last time they did that - probably 1961....
- they need the 3 points - nothing less will do given the pursuit of Chelsea
- they can make Champions League football almost certain if they win
- they will finish above Arsenal for the first time in 22 years if they win
- they can seriously dent Arsenal's Champions League hopes (which looked dead and buried a couple of weeks ago but now have been revived).

So with all the above to bear in mind, who actually really believes we are going to win on Sunday?.....or will Spursey simply revert to type?

...

I think Arsenal could win - for several reasons. They need the points, not least CL qualification might make it a lot easier to retain some of their players and/or sign others. Despite everything, they have a number of highly talented players who if they decide to perform could easily dominate sections of a match. They have a lot of pride to lose, odds on Spurs will finish above them this season so ending our (implausible) chase for the league title and not seeing the shift of status confirmed at WHL is going to matter to them.

I recall the derby the season after they won the league for the first time in the modern era. It wasn't a football match, it was a fight where occasionally someone remembered about the ball. In effect a vastly inferior Spurs team was not prepared to lose and let Arsenal enjoy their new status as champions (if I recall Spurs won 2-1 and Adams managed to foul two players with one tackle). So ...

On the other hand. Spurs seem very able to manage games these days. The Arsenal defense is an accident waiting to happen. If Chelsea have won at Everton earlier well the league really will have gone - so a lot of pressure comes off Spurs.

Besides, I am not sure most of Mourinho admirers understood his true, key gift. And it is not about system, tactics, strategy (every competent manager knows that part, even a cousin of mine -football coach, he will never coach an elite team but can watch any match he likes in any European stadium, for free obviously- not to mention the armchair vodka aficionados [:D]). His talent is obvious: he manages to rally his fanatic troops (players). That's what you really have to admire. He masters the human relationships, and that has to be the most complicated part of coaching.

But of course the glue of the whole edifice is pure negativity: 1) anti-football and 2) really bad karma all over the place. As Hitler would [incorrectly] put it "kick in the door and the whole rotten structure will come crashing down...". The third season meltdown is no joke.

Aldershot 2 Braintree 0

Pretty much as expected. Braintree are relegated along with North Ferriby, Southport, and ... York! Aldershot confirm a playoff place and they will play Tranmere in the Semi-Final. The other semi will be between Forest Green and Dagenham & Redbridge. Congratulations to Torquay for beating the drop, it looked dicey for a while but they came through it.

It's National League South for Braintree next season. And the first time Braintree has ever been relegated! Bugrit Millenium Shrimp!

Best wishes,
Steve

Thanks. The real shocker this season has been York City. At the beginning of the season they were expected to be fighting for the automatic spot (with Tranmere). Freshly relegated from the Football League, and, with the parachute money (worth about £800,000 I think), they were odds on to go back up. They will need to restructure the club now. Already they are talking about going semi-pro though Gary Mills is against it.

They spent (most of, if not all) the parachute money on getting players in on big wages. My guess is that most of it has gone.

Best wishes,
Steve
