This was my lowest numbered task force.

Haruna lands a few 36cm hits on the POW, at least 4 20cm hits bounce off the armor, others set fires and destroy devices on the deck and in the superstructure.

Many 20cm hits bounce off the armor, but several penetrate and then a torpedo hit!

Notice the POW has broken off into an escort task force.

The Jintsu races in, and lets her torpedoes loose insanely close. The first explodes but the second hits, but fails to explode!

The Chokai races in and knocks out the fire control on the Pensacola with the first 20cm salvo...then the fight begins in earnest.

Can Chokai survive?

The dratted Yanks dodge about 6 torpedo salvos....

Damage to her engines, and the Salt Lake cannot escape....

Then the battles at night are over, and in the afternoon the Allies strike back..

The Alpha strike...darn I had guessed right where the Allied carriers would be no night engagement. 1 cruiser sunk, another most likely down.

Risky move with Kongo, too. Would not have sent an SCTF that small.

Well... it's unlikely that KB could have replenished and gotten there in time. If my opponent struck Pearl for several days, I'd heavily consider something like it also.

Losing 2 modern CAs like that is going to come back to bite later though. The Allies get lots of BBs. And Repulse is just a BC, very thin armor.

Better hope you got all his slow BBs at Pearl.

Scenario 1 game, every loss hurts.

I think the Allies decided that every starting ship is expendable.

I agree, although add the caveat that Repulse gets decent AA later in the war and can free up a fast BB from a CVTF.

It was a knife fight and most of his damaged vessels are deep inside your zone so they probably will be hunted down and killed. His big goal now is to get the Lexington out of harm's way.
