Broken Sabers scenario

Post by LordCucumber »

Broken Sabers is the first scenario I have produced with the editor. It's a conversion of an Eastern Front 2 map involving the battle that took place in november 1941 near Musino, a small town near Moscow. The Germans had an artillery field there and several infantry platoons and some 5 cm antitank guns. The Russians brought to the field their famed Mongolian Cavalry horde and one (!) T34-41 tankplatoon. What ensued was utter slaughter, as the cavalry rode as one giant wave into the valley and tried to crest the hill where the batteries were placed. The batteries (originally 105 mm howitzers, but I had to convert these to 75 cm for I could not get them as on-map arty, help on this subject welcome) started firing and blood filled the stream in the valley. some of the riders made it accross, only to be cut down by machinegun fire from several nests that served as the German forward observation posts.

As said I had to make some compromises with certain units, and I am not exactly sure if I scaled the battle and the map right, but all in all for a first map I think it's not too bad. Since no Mongolian Cavalry was available (do the Chinese have this unit I wonder) I used 'ordinary' Soviet Cavalry. Cossacks would have been a bit too strong IMO.

I playtested this scenario as the Germans. For a challenge I could have played the Russians (though it IS possible to overwhelm the Germans, given enough time) but I haven't done so yet.

Anyone who wants to give this first creation a try is welcome to do so, just mail me/PM me with your mail address and I will send the scenario your way.

P.S. Jess.. Your PM box seems to be full... I could not reach you :(.. Please check it so I can contact you (I could also mail, if you don't mind me doing so?)..

If you want 105mm onboard German howitzers, change the date to dec 49 buy them then change the date back to the proper one to continue editing the scenario.

They are in the German oob, but only for scenario designers, they weren't normally on the front line so they were set to dec 49 to keep people from using them for battle generator games.
thanks, John.

Really? I personally thought it was nice for a first attempt. Apart from that it's unbalanced (though fun and entertaining) and without the explanatory text it's kinda.. umm.. unfinished :D
