Bid question

Post by jboldt007 »

Hi all - looking to set up 2 player bid for next GW game. in looking at RAW 24 online at one point it says:

Greg makes the highest bid at -4, and chooses the Soviet Union, France
and the Chinese Communists with a modified bid of 10 which
will reduce to 9 if France is liberated by another major power during
the game...

Does this essentially mean that whoever liberates a country gets the point (s) for that country (assuming they control them) or is this something particular to France?

No, not particular to France, it is a general rule. But most games only France qualifies.

It dawned on me that the scenario book (with the bid info) is included with MWIF (under Help menu) along with the RAW, for anyone looking for that info.

I understand it to be total VP for side. If you want to choose one side over another, the bid number adjusts what you need to get to win. It is kind of a "name that tune" approach with bids to do better than others.

First of all, if playing with 2 players for GW, you need to account for all major power. One player will be Germany, Italy and Japan and the other with be the rest.

There is a total of 67 VP available of which Axis needs 15 and the Allies needs the rest(52). If you want to play Axis with a -3, you need to get 18 VP or more to win.

This does not work so well with 2 players since this really adds competition within larger teams. As in the example, US/China might be willing to get more VP.

Yes. - it would be awesome to play MWIF with a large number of players (GW). That could be a life goal of sorts. The dynamics would be very different as everyone is out for themselves even if (nominally) on the same side. As Churchill said as early as 1942- the war isn't about Germany or Japan , its about Russia.
