Just as a thought, and because you already have them, but bees just LOVE raspberry bushes. I have a 10x20 plot in my back yard, when they bloom you can literally hear it hum. I have red & gold, so they bloom at different times. Bees are not as fond of blackberries, curiously.

Bees are flat out going to love my garden this year. I'm not too fond of raspberries but this breed looks interesting. They're peach colored and supposedly have a more complex flavor than most.

I have 5 of these in my back yard, along @ 10 red. Red ones bear fruit mid to late summer, these in early to mid fall. I love the jam I make from these. Definitely different flavor than the red.

I spray the berries with diluted hot sauce to keep the squirrels off them. That doesn't stop the birds though. I give them plenty to eat anyway.

If you deposit it in a river bank it might collect considerable interest.

Sure I guess. Why? Do you think it will be of much interest?

I've spent the last 3 days preparing for Noah's flood in my finished basement. It's where my library is. Moving all my books up to waist level, setting up an electric sump pump and a gasoline powered trash pump in case that didn't work , or the power failed. Although the parks all around my house flooded, my basement was dry as a bone. Now it's time to put everything back, and to continue the gardening. (Mostly doing battle with the bushy tailed tree rats). I've fortified my raised gardens , sprayed them with capsaicin , and placed layer after layer of netting around them. (I've spread blood meal around them , next bags of moth balls and Irish spring soap). And I've been feeding the little buggers a regular gourmet buffet. Let's see if they continue to honor the truce. :)

My house is on a ridge. It is 80' above the current flood and 70' above the flood of '93. If my house were flooded all of southern Illinois would be the greatest Lake ever. You would be going glub, glub glub now if you were lucky.
I'm a mile from the River Des Peres but way up.

I'm busy still in the garden so this next turn may take some time

Back to you. How's the flooding finding you?

I will have to try the spray. I have a peach tree, kiwi, and others that the squirrels strip bare.

One of the things that's kept me from doing my turns with alacrity was building the picnic table you see. It's 8' long and I had to cut up some angle iron to make braces with a "T" cross section to hold the cedar 2x4s together and remove any warps both horizontal and vertical. I made the braces shorter than the widths of the table and benches and bevelled the ends and ground down the edges so there'd be nothing to snag anyone's clothes on.

I'm having trouble again. When I try and boot up the game it crashes as soon as I hit a key to stop the credits etc. Previously I tried reinstalling the game and that didn't work. Then I tried opening the game from another folder and it worked. Eventually it happened to work (the current game). Now it doesn't work at all. When I try an older version sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. When it does work it seems to be tied to letting the nonsens graphics run for a while before hitting a key. That doesn't help though since I cannot start my current game from there as I'm in the wrong folder. I still have hair so I can pull some of it out now and then but soon I'll be bald.

If you add -skipVideo to your command line you will not have to watch the opening video.

As for the other, I have no idea.

If you have several installs of the game, it is possible that, while moving folders around, you got some incompatible files in the wrong folders, shortcuts pointing to the wrong .exe, saves in the wrong set of game folders, etc. This only came to mind because of the difficulties I know you had getting the correct version of the game to match with your partner, after many installs of other versions. I would start by looking at the shortcut properties to see which game installation they point to.

Thanks for the -skipVideo.

Everything looks right. It was working fine a couple of days ago and I didn't change anything. I think something must have gotten corrupted. I'm going to try to set up a new install and get it to work, then transfer the files I need to the new install, savegame and whatever else I'll need. Probably won't get to it til tomorrow. None of those files should contain the corruption since the game won't even boot to the menu.

I'm back in business. The problem was in the save game folder after all. I used an illegal file name for a backup save and that was causing the boot to fail. I should be able to report a turn in the AAR today.
