I agree 100%. After he sunks Big E, Lowpe should go for Pearl. There is nothing his opponent can do now to stop him. Ad to that Noumea, Pago Pago and Pearth and you have a total blokade of Australia. If Obvert wants to get through, he'll have to come out and play earlier than he might want to and that provides even more opportunities for Japan. If Lowpe plays super aggresive here, he might achieve an auto victory or, in worst case scenario, get to see jets over Japan [8D]

A look at Burma...Pegu will fall with the attack, and the Allies have abandoned Rangoon, which I think is a mistake. They should have fought with something, on the off chance it destroyed some industry.

I have one unit of 20mm flak close, that I will fly into Rangoon once it flies the Rising Sun, and more marching here.

A few problems...I didn't plan on that...with no Mersing Gambit Singers turns into a siege. I don't think taking Pearl is all it is cracked up to be either. I dislike fighting at the extreme edge of the Empire.

Obvert is a good enough player to not let the loss of 2 carriers slow him down much and he has significantly damaged a lot of the IJN. Plus the E going down isn't a forgone conclusion...she went 9 hexes yesterday!

Thanks for posting in detail with lots of colorful maps, Jeff. Fun to watch such a massive all-in engagement so early in the game.

Michael, air HQs, sorry for the delayed answers.

Victoria Point has a splinter from Moulein's HQ.

The Jolo HQ was one day away from landing at Balikpapen when the fireworks started. If it would have gotten there, then the fleet would have sortied to protect the runways and most likely all this heavy fighting would not have taken place.

But I am out of position.

Thanks Jeff!

I see just the 21st Air HQ at Takao that needs to be moved asap. Maybe Kendari or Koepang.

Sure, you'll see how will situation develop from now on, but if opportunity presents itself you should grab it. PH gives you only repair shipyard in CP plus possibility to harass his supply lines to Ozz and thus making them long and vulnerable. I also see Hawaii as potential Mariannas 2.0. - Allies need to grab them before anything else and that delays their offensive for at least half of year.

No they don't. If Japan goes Pearl...then Oz is safe. IF I were the Allies and Japan went Pearl...then I would hit the SRA with everything I had. Oil and Fuel gone in 1943.

Plus this is scenario 1...Japan simply doesn't have the ground troops and the fuel usage would be quite worrisome. India, now that makes more sense at least to Calcutta...I have a shot at getting industry as Obvert is too skilled to leave supplies and fuel laying around. I also have my eyes on Ceylon...that might surprise him.

Pearl is the siren-song that naturally attracts any game player...at first. Lowpe has too much experience to listen to that song.

Probably the only reason for a Japanese player to take Pearl is in furtherance of a very specific plan to pursue auto-victory. I believe Lowpe doesn't think Pearl is a good target even in that case, but I think it can be.

One approach is to feint at Pearl. Take a few bases, such as Midway and Johnston Island on the cheap to give the impression of a move toward Pearl. This will force the allied player to garrison the Hawaiian islands heavily, slowing down his deployment west for several months until he determines that it is only a feint.

If the Allied cruisers at Singers reloaded, then they will bombard Palembang this night. I left the planes there, well most of them, because sometimes funky things can happen with bombardment fleets, and as bait. I have three task forces of small ships protecting Palembang.

With a little luck maybe some things will go Japan's way this next turn.

Turn is in Allied hands!

It's either go on a bombardment mission or stay at base and watch Andy Hardy movies.

They could make a run for it and escape at flank speed...

What can you expect for this upcoming turn...more carnage!

A full court press on the escaping Enterprise. Will she make a mad dash east and attempt to make it thru the PI and then south to Port Milne and safety? Or keep going east...

How about making for Manila?

Hugging the Borneo coastline skirting Brunei and Miri or making for deeper water and then Singapore. Perhaps the Enterprise will attempt to meet up with freshly refueled cruisers from Singers.

So many options!

Make your picks...wither the E, what say you?

Sounds like you have a good plan for the future but taking advantage of his early carriers sunk or crippled can help push back the future allied counter-offensive. maybe hunting the British fleet and killing it also taking Diego Garcia and Colombo.
