Guide for players of the Axis side

Post by EwaldvonKleist »

A comprehensive guide for advanced beginners dealing with one of the many good ways to play the Axis side can be found here:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5BD_r ... ZUNTg/view
It features an in detail description of strategic goals and contains useful micromanagement tips on 56 pages.
Please note that it is not written by me (except for minor parts), I host it on my gdrive account only.

I hope some people will find it to be useful.

Thanks for a great guide.

I have a sneaking suspicion of whom the author of the guide may be, but wheter I'm right or not it's a great guide.

Again: Thanks to both author and to you for hosting it Ewald.

I looked to your guide with great interest. Unfortunately, loading the file resulted in only the first four pages being displayed. I've tried reloading, numerous times, but getting the same result. I realize that the problem could be at my end and I might have to live with obtaining only the first four pages of your guide. Anyway, the information in those pages was very helpful and I appreciate the effort to compile and present this information. It definitely wets the appetite for more.

I look forward to reading your postings.

It sometimes loads slowly, had the same problem. Instead of viewing it in the browser, you should try to download it which should work.
Looks like this guide prompted you to make your first post here :-).

Followed your advice and became much more patient as the file loaded. Thank you!

I'm retired and purchased WitE in early December of 2016. The more I tried to figure things out, the more I became drawn to the game. Have enjoyed the 'puzzle' of WitE and when you made the guide available, I couldn't resist.

Again, thank you!

The document that is downloaded is vebatim "Pelton's" views and comments that were posted before some were taken down.

If the guide benefits players then that can only be a good thing. Whoever the author no forum rules have been broken so let's not create any dramas.

The game is surprisingly playable for beginners. But when getting more serious, the War in the East Condensed Rules v1.08.03, Condensed Forum posts, and this document show the incredible (and often intimidating) aspects of "doing it right."

Thanks to all three contributors for the documents mentioned above. That is support above and beyond the call of duty!

I concur, I was only pointing out where credit was due.

A question regarding the guide: It is repeatedly mentioned there that one should set MAX TOE settings for
Pioneers to 95%
Infantry/Panzers to 93%
Support units to 71%
Is there any reason known to players why exactly those numbers are chosen? Pelton mentioned that there is something in the code of the game that makes them advantageous but to be honest I am too lazy learn using the editor to create test scenarios or such stuff.
